VATRE

Pearland ISD Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) is currently included on the November ballot. Passage of Pearland ISD’s VATRE would decrease the total tax rate by 16.54 cents, with a total rate of $1.1373, generating $11.2 million in additional funds for Pearland ISD, supporting increased compensation to district’s staff, improving district infrastructure, supporting high-quality student programs and helping reduce Pearland ISD’s budget deficit. If the VATRE does not pass, the tax rate will decrease by 25.54 cents, with a total rate of $1.0473 and no funds for Pearland ISD.

Statewide Recognition for ESL Teacher

Karen Spooner is an English as a Second Language teacher at Pearland Junior High West and has recently been named the 2023 Secondary ESL Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association for Bilingual Education (TABE). 

Kaighen Named Finance Director

Pearland ISD welcomes Brittany Kaighen as its director of finance.

Kaighen has served Pearland ISD as a payroll clerk, Pearland High School’s data specialist and professional registrar, and her most recent position, compensation specialist in the Human Resources department.

National Recognition for Students

Pearland ISD students have been named scholars in College Board’s National Recognition Programs, including the National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous and Rural and Small Town Recognition Programs.

All-A Honor Roll

An "All-A" Honor Roll for each K-8 campus is compiled at the end of the nine weeks grading period. An "All-A" Honor Roll for grades 9-12 is compiled at the end of the semester.
