I started working in bike shops in 1999, halfway through my college career. After graduating from George Mason University, I worked full-time at an area bike shop, pursuing my interest in bike mechanics. Always a "tinkerer" and good with my hands, I quickly moved from mechanic to service manager to store manager. Years later, another store recruited me to manage the bike shop within the confines of an outdoor sports retail outlet. I eventually left this position for a great opportunity to work at an area non-profit...albeit behind a desk. Fortunately, I was able to stay within the industry part-time by helping to establish and run a new bike store in the area. I left the non-profit to manage this business full-time.
