Florence Little Theatre's Cinderella
The Florence Little Theatre presents Cinderella through Saturday. The smart and beautiful young Ella lives in the care of her wicked, self-absorbed stepmother Madame and Madame’s two daughters, Charlotte and Gabrielle. Ella’s only friends in the world are the animals in the woods, “crazy Marie”, and the revolutionary student, Jean-Michel. Meanwhile, in another part of the kingdom, Prince Topher is trying to find himself and learn his place in the kingdom. When his scheming advisor Sebastian suggests throwing a ball so the Prince could meet potential brides, Ella and Topher’s different worlds come together. Expect the unexpected in this clever retelling of the beloved fairytale.

Enrico Elisi
Enrico Elisi, pianist, will perform Wednesday at the Performing Arts Center. Elisi was born and raised in Italy, where he performed in historical settings (La Fenice Theatre, Venice; Palazzo Vecchio, Florence; Bibiena Theatre, Mantua; and Pavarotti Opera House, Modena). Elisi has had recitals in Europe, the Americas, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Singapore, with recent engagements at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, the New York Public Library, New York's Morgan Library, Washington's National Gallery of Art, the Italian Embassy, and the Centro Cultural de España in Lima, Peru.

ArtFields Jr. Pee Dee Region Art Day
The ArtFields Jr. competition artwork travels to four regions of the state: the Pee Dee, Lowcountry, Midlands, and Upstate. Families can participate in hands-on art activities, enjoying entertainment from area schools and incredible artwork from Pee Dee area ArtFields Jr. artists. This event will be held at the Hyman Fine Arts Center at Francis-Marion University Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

FMU Performing Arts Center: The Performing Arts Center has several shows scheduled for the upcoming months. Pianist Enrico Elisi will perform September 14 and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Clarke will take the stage September 28. Then Country music star Josh Turner is September 29, rock and pop legend Jim Messina (of Loggins and Messina) October 15 and the hip-hop fusion group Black Violin December 10.
Florence Center: The Florence Center has several performances scheduled for the upcoming months. Comedian Bert Kreischer will perform October 8, and Casting Crowns will make a stop October 29 during The Healer Tour. On November 4 Travis Tritt and Chris Janson will make a stop in Florence during The Can't Miss Tour. The annual Jingle Bell Market is November 18-20, a spectacular holiday event featuring handmade crafts, gifts, holiday decor and more.
Florence Symphony Orchestra: The Florence Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2022-2023 Symphonic Soul lineup. Season tickets are on sale now.
Wisdom Players Senior Theatre Company: The Wisdom Players Senior Theatre Company presents a dinner theatre, “Melodies in E,” September 23-24. On Friday, dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 7 p.m. On Saturday, dinner will be served at 3 p.m., and the show starts at 4 p.m. Both performances will be held at the New Ebenezer Baptist Church's SHEREC facility at 312 Ravenel St. in Florence. Tickets are available by calling (843) 601-3891.
Moore Farms Botanical Garden: Moore Farms Botanical Gardens will host an afternoon of Story Time in the garden. Families are invited to bring a book to donate, share a book with other families or make a book.
Southeastern Bluegrass Association of SC: SEBGA hosts a monthly bluegrass music concert and jam session on the first Saturday of each month. Doors open at 4 p.m. Open mic starts at 5 p.m. and the featured band performs at 6 p.m.
The Metropolitan Opera: The Metropolitan Opera takes the stage with a season packed with artistic riches including a dazzling lineup of ten Live in HD cinema transmissions. The series will be held at the Swamp Fox Stadium 14.
Town of Cheraw Recreation & Leisure Services: The Town of Cheraw Recreation & Leisure Services will have a Dinner Theater Show featuring James Stephens III (The Man of a Thousand Voices) & the Detroit City Boyz at the Cheraw Community Center September 29. Stephens is a master impressionist and entertainer. The Detroit City Boyz will keep you entertained by performing songs from The Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Boys to Men, and more.

Pee Dee Author Expo
The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library will hold its annual Pee Dee Author Expo in person this year December 3. Up to 17 authors will be selected to participate in the 2022 Pee Dee Authors Expo. Authors of printed fiction and nonfiction written for adults, children, or young adults who have released a book within the last two years are invited to complete the application process. Authors who have participated in the event previously may apply to participate again. Interested authors can visit the library’s website for the downloadable application and related instructions. Applications and books will be accepted through September 23.

ArtFields Submissions
The ArtFields Art Competition is open to adult artists working in all mediums from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. ArtFields is a nine-day visual art competition and exhibition in Lake City. Accepted artwork is displayed all over town as restaurants, flower shops, boutiques, and more become art galleries. ArtFields was designed to celebrate the immense talent of Southeastern artists while also showcasing art in non-traditional or unintimidating locations. Through participation in ArtFields, you’re part of a dream to create accessible avenues in which to view art. Submissions for the 2023 competition is open through November 1. 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art
The 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art awards $10,000 to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South. Presented annually, the 1858 Prize recognizes the highest level of artistic achievement in any media. The Gibbes encourages both emerging and nationally recognized artists of all backgrounds to apply and is committed to cultivating an award that is diverse and affirming. In addition to the monetary award, artwork will be chosen by the Gibbes Curatorial Team, in collaboration with the artist, for display in the Mary Jackson Modern and Contemporary Galleries for the duration of 2023. Artists from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted through September 30.

Glitz and Kitsch - Call for Artists
From glamorous and showy to ironic and garish, submit your most avant-garde 2D and 3D original work to this juried exhibit. Black Creek Arts Council is accepting applications for the Glitz and Kitsch exhibit that will be on display October 6-November 11. Amateur and professional artists age 18 and older are invited to enter. All forms of 2-D and 3-D art & craft will be considered. Registration is open through Wednesday.

Sustaining in a Time of Change: An Artist Workshop
Based on 15 years of work with artists locally and nationally, artist leaders Andrew Simonet and Michaela Pilar Brown at the Florence County Museum will build conversations and offer tools for making a balanced, sustainable artist life. This workshop is an opportunity to build clarity around your artistic practice and the resources that sustain it. It is community organizing, creating positive and rigorous conversations across artistic disciplines, ages, and cultures. And it is specific and practical: the principles and tools artists use to make sustainable lives and to make the art and impact that matters most to them. This free workshop will be held October 21-22. Early registration is open to museum members. Registration for non-members will begin October 1.

FRAA's Quarterly Grant
The Quarterly Grants Program for Organizations & Individual Artists is designed to provide support for a wide variety of quality arts projects and professional development opportunities for artists and arts administrators. Organizations must be based in Florence County with a Florence County mailing address and be registered charitable organizations with federal non-profit status. Individual artists must be practicing artists in dance, literature, music, theatre, or the visual arts and have a Florence County mailing address. Individual artists must be over 18 at the time of application. Individual artists cannot apply for funding for projects related to academic credit or be a degree-seeking, full-time student during the grant period. The deadline is November 15 for projects beginning in January, February or March and ending before June 1.
