Thank you for your support!
Spring is just around the corner!
Peel away your cold weather layers...
And, peel away your own layers
Recovery is a complex and multi-layered process that may take years to fully understand. It has been described as "peeling an onion," meaning during our addiction, we have buried ourselves deep, and have to peel away the layers to find our true self again.
This self discovery happens gradually, and in stages. Some layers are thick and messy; some are thin and manageable.

But, when we start to peel back our layers, we provide space for connection.
As staff and FTR members, we are all constantly peeling our own layers back. And, we're helping others feel safe enough to peel their own back, too.
As a community, when we let our armor down, when we peel back our layers, we find new pathways, new hope, new friendships.
FITNESS
Member Highlight: Andrew Roberts
Andrew Roberts is a long-time member and supporter of FTR. He consistently shows up with a warm, welcoming smile on his face to every class. He never hesitates to extend his hand to the new person and he is always willing to share his experience and hope in recovery. You can also catch him helping us here with any maintenance issue we have around the gym. He is selfless and kind and makes this community a better place in so many different ways. And, he's our star goalie on the FTR soccer team.
THANK YOU ANDREW! We love and appreciate you more than you know!

FEBRUARY SWING & TGU WORKSHOP

Our lead fitness trainer, Frank Young, and trainer Amy Jefferson taught a Swing and Turkish GetUp Workshop in February. This kettlebell workshop taught our members how to get the most benefit from using a kettlebell. The workshop focused on the swing and turkish get up specifically. This was open to all fitness levels. It taught everyone how to use a kettlebell safely and improve their current practice. Members connected with each other while learning how to strengthen their mind, body, and spirit.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
2020 Rally For Recovery at the Utah State Capitol was an event that is held every year and hosted by USARA. It is a huge platform for people in recovery to have their voices heard. Speakers include leaders, legislators, allies, and people in recovery. As an Ambassador of Recovery for the state of Utah, Frank Young, FTR's lead trainer, was asked to speak at this event about his personal story in recovery and his message of hope he carries. We are honored to have him a part of our community.
