Important Information Regarding Your Academic Status
As you are aware, you were on Academic Probation going into the Fall 2024 semester. A review of the grades that you earned for this term showed that neither your semester nor overall GPA were above a 2.00.
Unfortunately, because your GPA did not meet this mark you are academically suspended from the college for the Spring 2025 semester and any classes you were registered for have been dropped. If this is your second suspension, then your academic suspension includes Spring, Summer and Fall 2025 semesters. The soonest that you could return would be Spring 2026.
We know that this letter is not delivering positive news and that you may want another chance to succeed at Pellissippi State. If you believe that the circumstances that prevented you from earning a 2.00 or above GPA are behind you and that next semester would be different, you do have the option to appeal your academic suspension.
Before making the decision to appeal your academic suspension, we encourage you to make sure that you have the financial ability to pay for another semester. If you were relying on financial aid of any kind, then you should consult with the Start Strong Center to see if you have also been placed on financial aid suspension. An academic suspension appeal is not an appeal to continue to receive financial aid. If approved, you would simply be able to register for classes again and would still be responsible for paying for these classes. You can find the contact information for the Start Strong Center here.
Please use the following link to submit your suspension appeal to the Suspension Appeal Committee. The Suspension Appeal Committee will review and make a decision based on the content of your written appeal. Appeals will be reviewed as they are submitted and you will receive either an approval or denial through your Pellissippi State email within two business days after submission. These decisions by the committee are final.
- The deadline to complete and submit the suspension appeal form for spring 2025 is Wednesday January 8, 2025 by 4:30pm.
- The college is closed Thursday, December 19-Thursday, January 2. Appeals will not be reviewed until the college reopens.
If your appeal is denied or if you decide not to appeal and stay out of classes for the full amount of time, you will need to reapply to Pellissippi State when you are ready to return. We also strongly suggest that you set an appointment with your academic advisor when you reapply so we can discuss success strategies and resources that can help you meet your educational goals.
Please feel free to reach out to your assigned Academic Advisor with any questions you may have about this process.
We hope to see you back on campus soon.
