Zoey - A Fairy Tale Ending
Zoey came to the Peninsula SPCA as a brand new momma of eight adorable, and very hungry little puppies. She was skin and bones and not much else--she had been starving while also trying to feed her eight new babies, but in true mommy fashion Zoey didn’t think twice about herself. She was scared, she was emaciated, she was weak--but that didn’t stop little Zoey from being her sweet, gentle self.
Zoey and her babies were lucky enough to find a loving foster family where they began to thrive. Zoey’s weight was monitored closely, and eventually, she began to stabilize. It took nearly a month, but Zoey soon regained some of the weight and strength she had lost from near starvation.
With the love and patience of her foster family, Zoey not only gained weight but began to build confidence as well. She began to learn rapidly, and in a short period of time Zoey mastered basic commands, was house trained, and even caught on to some fun new tricks in the short eight weeks she was with her foster family.
After recovering from her former life, and after fully weaning her puppies, Zoey was brought out of foster care and made available for adoption. By this time she had blossomed into a healthy, happy dog with an incredibly affectionate and vibrant personality.
Zoey was happily adopted into her forever home only a few days after leaving her foster home. Zoey is an incredible example not only of the resilient and fighting spirit that many shelter animals have, but also of the monumental role that a loving foster family can play in changing the life of a shelter animal.
