Highlights of Our Life and Work

In our 7-week series on the Lord's Prayer, we are considering John Dominic Crossan's thesis that it is "a radical manifesto and a hymn of hope for all humanity addressed to all the earth"  (The Greatest Prayer: Rediscovering the Revolutionary Message of the Lord's Prayer) 
This Sunday, Rev. Bruce will explore "hallowed be thy name"  What does it mean to hallow God's name?

Cafe Church    is taking a break for the summer and will be back again on September 8!  Everyone is welcome at the Crescent Site for Sunday worship throughout the summer.

PFLAG helps parents, friends and families understand their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender loved ones. We work to create an environment of understanding so our gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans loved ones can live with dignity and respect.
PLFAG provides support for all family members and friends, and LGBTQ2+ folks are very welcome (and many come!).

Surrey Interfaith Council
Come and join the Surrey Interfaith Council's next Roundtable on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 - Rm 120 - Surrey Central Library, 10350 University Drive, Surrey.

All Surrey Candidates of the coming Federal Election will be invited to join us in a discussion on the role of Faith in Canada.

Registration starts at 6:30 pm
The Fircom Challenge is a half-day hiking adventure that raises money to make summer camp financially accessible for children and families.

Participants raise pledges and then partake in a challenging hike on Vancouver's North Shore.

Hikers will meet at the base of the mountain, do some campy activities, climb the mountain showing our camp spirit, and then bask in the view at the top celebrating all the funds raised.

*    Place: BCMC Trail, Grouse Mountain
*    Level of Difficulty: Difficult (but short!)
*    Time to Hike: 1.5 Hours
 Donations for First United Downtown 
Support our meal program which allows us to provide breakfast and lunch for up to 200 people weekly.
Your gift to the meal program at First could provide hot, healthy, and delicious meals for our DTES neighbours or the supplies needed to serve these meals. It could also help us purchase much-needed equipment for the kitchen. Thank you for your gift and for the support you share with us all year long.
Your gift could support...
$50: 12 new serving trays
$100: 540 sets compostable dishware
$250: 125 bowls of healthy breakfast soup
$1,000: Oven seed money ($27,000 needed)
