Highlights of Our Life and Work
December 1 2019
Here's what's coming up for our community of faith. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Advent begins today.   For the next 4 Sundays we anticipate and prepare for the coming of Christ.  The Apostle Paul has an urgent message for us this Sunday:  "Wake up, don't be distracted and pay attention to what really matters."  What really matters for you this Advent and Christmas? Join us as we consider this question and as we gather at the Lord's Table for communion.
Scripture:  Romans 13: 8-14

10 am Worship at Cafe Church
At Cafe Church this Sunday we'll hear the Godly Play story of how the  church tells time. Part of that story helps remind us that Advent is a time the church sets aside to help us get ready for the mystery of Christmas. Although our culture typically urges us to do more at this time of year, we will take time on Sunday morning to slow up and engage in a few spiritual practices to help us quiet the "Christmas machine" and " unplug" and be more present at this wonderful time of year.

Staff Update:
Rev. Bruce will be on bereavement leave Nov. 27- Dec. 3.

News This Week
Did you know that 44 members/adherents of Peninsula United Church live in 13 different Seniors' Residences or Care Facilities in White Rock and South Surrey.  There are 25 members of the congregation who regularly  visit these folks,  They also visit 33 members and adherents who are still living independently in their homes. We give thanks to God for the caring connections made between the visitors and those they visit.

If you are interested in becoming a Congregational visitor or if you would like to have a Congregational visitor come to visit you, please speak to Kathy Matusiak.
Gifts with Vision
Instead of just giving more "stuff" to your family and friends this Christmas, the United Church of Canada invites you to consider giving gifts that bring hope and healing into people's lives.  Gifts With Vision provides additional support for specific Mission & Service partners throughout Canada and across the world. Check out the Gifts With Vision giving catalogues available on the table in the Narthex or click here to visit the website.
Planning a church event at the Sunnyside or Crescent site?
Please let Joanne at the church office know the date, time, and place as soon as possible so the Ministry Coordinating Team can put it on their calendar. This is to prevent double-bookings and a good spacing of events throughout the year.
