News This Week
Congregational Meeting - This Sunday!
There will be a Congregational meeting held this Sunday, June 9 following the worship service. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect members to Council.
Final Farewell to the First UC Building
Sunday, June 9 at 6 pm
in front of White Rock City Hall
We've heard that the building will be demolished soon so we want to gather one last time to give thanks for what the church has meant to people in the community and congregation.
And we'll open the time capsule found from 1957!
REMINDER! - Sunday, June 16
The Father's Day Service is only a week away and all of the men in the congregation are invited to sing with the Men's Choir during this service. We will be having a choir practice next Wednesday June 12th at 8 pm for approximately a half an hour.  Please give some thought to your participation.

Worship at the Crescent site will be led by some of the men of the congregation. The Rev. Jim Lindenberger will be preaching.  Rev. Bruce will be leading CafĂ© Church. 
Peninsula UCW Luncheon
The Peninsula UCW Luncheon will be held Tuesday June 11th, 12 noon in the Clubhouse at 14888-24th Ave.

Church PicNic - Sunday, June 23
Cafe Church will be joining us at the Crescent site for worship followed by a picnic lunch.

food and help with set up & take down will be in the narthex for the next two Sundays.

To avoid being ticketed, please don't block driveways,  
or park on the grassy area by the church.  Please see the parking map on the bulletin board at the Crescent site for more details. 
Healing Touch & Reiki
All are welcome to attend on a drop-in basis, or more regularly as needed, for healing of body, mind, and spirit. Thursday, June 13, between 10 am and noon at the Crescent site sanctuary.

Camp Spirit Volunteer Orientation Session
Thursday, July 4, 11 am at the Crescent site.
We'll see a 10 minute Camp Spirit video, have some Q and A , and review the Volunteer Covenant. Please mark your calendars for this important gathering. The excitement is growing for the first Peninsula UC kids camp!
Volunteer Opportunites for Camp Spirit
There are 3 sign up sheets in the entryway for helping with food preparation and clean-up, Community Engagement and Camper Support Buddies and Before and After Camp Care.
If you have any questions please speak to: Joan Strutt after the worship service to assist you with signing up today.
United Church of Canada Duty of Care requires that all volunteers who work with children, youth and vulnerable adults must have a current (within 2 years) Criminal Record Check. Please see Rev. Janice who will provide you with a letter to take to the RCMP detachment.

Spirit Bursary Fund
Camp Spirit is committed to ensuring that no family is turned away from camp due to financial constraints. Last year the Bursary fund gave $25,015 for 186 children. Please use the Camp Spirit envelopes if you would like make a gift to the 2019 Camp Spirit Bursary Fund. If anyone you know needs financial assistance for camp, ask them to speak to Rev. Janice about receiving a bursary.

Mission & Service Update: 
Our Minute for Mission this Sunday is a video called "Surprised by Joy" which tells us about the work of Rev. Jim Hatherley and others from the First United Church Community Ministry serving the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.  This is only one example of how your M&S donations are used.  Our M&S Donations in April were $5,832.08, bringing the total M&S donations from January to April to $23,188.54. The UCW contribution for 2019 is $500.00.  If Mission & Service giving is already a regular part of your life, thank you so much. If you have not given, please join the M&S enthusiasts by making Mission & Service giving a regular part of your life of faith. Loving our neighbour is at the heart of our Mission & Service.

We work to create an environment of understanding so our gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans loved ones can live with dignity and respect.
PLFAG provides support for all family members and friends, and LGBTQ2+ folks are very welcome (and many come!).
