From the Halls of First Pres | Mindy Samples

Each February the Early Education Center (EEC) collects teddy bears for Cook Children’s Prayer Bear program. These bears are given to children admitted to the hospital and provide comfort for little ones undergoing treatment. Many of our own students have received a prayer bear, and we love helping them learn how to show compassion and kindness in our community.

On February 13, we will invite grandparents of EEC students to join us for a special chapel service where we will bless the bears before taking them to Cooks. Grandparents are also invited to donate a teddy bear. Our 3s & 4s students will sing and we will all enjoy lunch together. It’s a special time of sharing love during the season of love. If you would like to join us in sharing love with those in our community, the Prayer Bear program accepts new teddy bears. You can drop a teddy bear off in the bear donation box located near the Parlor doors.

Sarah Crowther-Dixon moved from Austin this month to start as the new UKirk Campus Minister. The group is currently meeting on Wednesday evenings for dinner, and Sarah has asked area PCUSA churches to provide simple dinners for 5-7 students each week. SUBMIT YOUR 2026 ELDER CLASS SUGGESTIONS

The Nominating Committee is requesting suggestions for next year’s elders. Any active member of our congregation may suggest other active members to the Nominating Committee to be considered for nomination. A suggestion does not constitute nomination. However, your suggestions are essential to the work of the Committee. The spiritual growth and development of our congregation is entrusted to your officers (Ruling Elders). These are not honorary positions or rewards. They are offices requiring wisdom and maturity, exercised in service. The Ruling Elders elected will serve a three-year term beginning January 2026. Submit your suggestions here.

SAVE THE DATE FOR EEC SUNDAY, MARCH 2
