The Small Business Advantage Grant Program is still accepting applications through March 24. Approximately $500,000 remains available for projects that help small businesses increase energy efficiency, reduce pollution, or protect our waterways. Many different types of small businesses, from manufacturing to retail to agriculture, may be eligible for funding under this program. Funding is awarded first-come, first served. The Innovative Manufacturers' Center (IMC) is offering open enrollment electrical safety classes. Companies are also able to host training sessions onsite with a minimum of 10 participants.

PennTAP connects Bethlehem bike company to Penn State student talent
Bicycle Motor Works, a family-owned bike battery manufacturer in Bethlehem, PA, connected with PennTAP Advisor Rich Joyce through Lehigh Valley LaunchBox powered by Penn State. Rich connected Bicycle Motor Works with a Business Transformational Consulting class in spring 2022. The students provided the manufacturing company with two technical reports which led to $51,000 in economic benefits for the company. This spring, Rich connected Bicycle Motor Works to a grant that enabled the company to fund a Penn State Learning Factory student capstone project to design a universal e-bike battery pack frame-mounting system.

This spring, PennTAP will host two industry roundtables focused on Pollution Prevention (P2) tools and training needs that are unique to metals manufacturing and fabrication, as well as food and beverage manufacturing. The Metals Manufacturing and Fabrication Roundtable will take place at the Corner LaunchBox at Penn State New Kensington on May 10, and the Food & Beverage Manufacturing Roundtable will take place in the Gaige Building at Penn State Berks on May 24.
