The PennTAP team performed a two-day assessment for Kunzler and provided recommendations for energy savings regarding Kunzler’s lighting, compressed air, water use, boiler, refrigeration systems, and infrared images on their electric panel systems.

Based on PennTAP’s recommendations, Kunzler was able to upgrade their compressor, saving them 307,662 kWh and $92,000 annually. PennTAP also helped Kunzler obtain a $24,000 rebate from Penelec to help offset the cost of the project. Read more.

To maintain energy usage, buildings require re-tuning. Building re-tuning (BRT) is a systematic process aimed at minimizing building energy consumption by identifying and correcting operational problems using no-cost or low-cost solutions. When performed properly, re-tuning can save between 5-25% of all energy used in a building. Periodically, BRT trainings are offered in the Commonwealth by PennTAP and Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Clean Energy Center. Read more.

Krista Schneider is our newest technical advisor, serving the Northeastern PA region. Krista will serve Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties. Prior to joining PennTAP, she served for eight years as the Executive Director of the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress, where she was responsible for the planning, fundraising, and implementation of more than $6M of targeted revitalization initiatives. Krista’s professional background includes more than twenty-five years of experience in land planning and design, community and economic development, civil engineering, building renovation and adaptive reuse, academia, grantsmanship, entrepreneurship, and non-profit management.
