PennTAP, through support from the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF), was able to assist Jump with Jill with two PA Department of Environmental Protection SBAG applications. Implementing the recommended energy efficiency measures is projected to save Jump with Jill $846/yr for the lighting project, equivalent to reducing energy consumption by 7,996 kWh/yr, and $939.15/yr for the HVAC project, equivalent to reducing energy consumption by 6,916 kWh/yr and 88 MMBtu/yr. The Small Business Advantage Grant provides 50% matching grants, up to a maximum of $5,000 to enable Pennsylvania small businesses to purchase energy efficient or pollution prevention equipment, or adopt waste reduction processes. $390,000 in funding remains, and the funding is distributed on a first come, first serve basis. In partnership with the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, Ben Franklin Technology Partners is looking for innovators with big ideas located in Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, or Jefferson County, PA. This is the first of three annual BIG IDEA Contests as part of a three-year initiative funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission and in partnership with PennTAP and Clarion University SBDC.

This initiative will serve as a forum where technologists facing some of the same opportunities and challenges can be a part of a community of their peers.
The inaugural Young Professionals in Tech Network meeting is on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, from 4 – 5 pm and will be a free, virtual networking event.
