Pennell Families,
I hope everyone had a fantastic summer. I know that the Pennell staff is recharged and ready for all of our penguins to return. We cannot wait to have the energy and excitement that the students bring back in the building.
Please take the time to read through this newsletter. There is a plethora of information for the beginning of the school year. You don't want to miss a thing! As always, reach out to our office with any questions.
First Day Arrival for Kindergarten and First Grade Drop-off (8:35-8:50):
On Tuesday, 9/3, please go all the way around the back of the building, and continue passed the recess yard to park in the lot in front of the playground. You may then walk your child over to the gym doors through the open playground gate to meet and greet with your child's teacher. The teacher will verify each student's dismissal routine with the parent. **If you child is taking the bus to school, our staff will help them to get to the teacher on the first day. Please make sure you send in their dismissal information in their backpack.
Kindergarten Arrival (after the first day)
All kindergarten students should arrive between 8:35 and 8:50 AM. Cars should display the yellow Kindergarten sign on their front dash. Car drop off is the second right as you enter through the Richard Rd. entrance to the property. Please remember to wait and pull all the way up near the stop sign, and do not exit the car. A staff member will help your child out on the school side of the vehicle. We appreciate your cooperation.
** Monday we will send home a yellow kindergarten sign you should display in your dash in the morning so that we can more easily direct traffic.
First-Fifth Arrival
All students should arrive between 8:35 and 8:50 AM. For drop-off, please pull up as far as you can before stopping to let your child out. If you are the first car, please pull up next to the playground. Remember to stay in your vehicle at all times while allowing your child to exit on the building side/driver side of the car. This is extremely important to mitigate the efficient flow of the car line and to ensure student safety.
Dismissal Procedures
Please write student(s) first names with large black marker on the family name paper as well to aid in the dismissal process. Our youngest scholars do not always recognizing their last names when calling them for dismissal.
Just like last year, please be patient the first few weeks of school as we establish our dismissal routine. It is imperative that we do it slowly and diligently until we are familiar with everyone's individual needs. I promise you that after the first 2-3 weeks, we will clear the building quickly and safely.
**Reminder: anyone picking up your child MUST have the Yellow card with your family's name on it, or they will be asked to go to the office and produce identification so that we can check it with our system.
