Our annual Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser continues through February 26. Orders will be ready for pick up the week of March 18 - when we have a specific date we will update. We will need a few volunteers that day!

The Family Glow Party is March 1 (6 - 8:30pm) at the Aston Community Center! Tickets are $5/child. Flyers will come home this week & details are online. This event is for Pennell families only (all grades) & replaces the Family Bingo we've done the past few years. We will have games, dancing, glow sticks, concessions & more! This is a CASH ONLY event. If you are able to donate items for a raffle basket, please reach out to pennell5thgrade@gmail.com

The Variety Show is April 5 at Northley. If your student is performing, please make sure you order their t-shirt here by February 16. Space is limited so only students in the show will receive tickets. We can't wait to see what these talented penguins can do!

Pretzel Sales continue every Friday at lunch. Remember your $1.

The PTO Directory is complete & available online for this year's PTO members. A link has been shared with all member email addresses on file & is also on our website. We'd love to hear what you think about this new format.

Photos from the Special Person's Dance are now online thanks to Melissa Kozuch Photography. You will need to create a free Shutterfly account but can download your photos for free, or get them printed anywhere!

Mark your calendars for Pennell Night at the Phillies, April 20 at 6:05pm. Flyers will come home this week. Tickets will be $25 & a portion of the proceeds benefits PTO.

5th Grade Families, please join the Facebook group to stay up to date on all the upcoming events. If you're not on Facebook, please send an email to pennell5thgrade@gmail.com to stay up to date. We always need volunteers to sell pretzels at lunch on Fridays, so please sign up to help!

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR - GET YOUR ORDERS IN!

NOTE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Penn Delco School District has partnered with The Smile Program: My School Dentist to offer in-school dental care each year. Dental exams are mandated by Pennsylvania for grades K/1, 3, and 7. This program is available for students in grades K/1, 3 and 7 who have not provided proof of a dental exam within the last year. If we do not have the required dental information regarding your child, you may qualify for this program. (Please note we will not turn away any student in any grade who requires a dental exam.)

Our in-school dental program saves you time and provides a safe and comfortable place for your child to receive gentle dental care from licensed local professionals. Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants when necessary, and in some cases, restorative care such as fillings. Even better, this dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted, including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low-cost self-pay option is available.

Children who see a dentist regularly may have fewer health issues like:

  • Early tooth loss due to dental decay
  • Gum disease
  • Heart disease
  • Impaired speech development

Dental exams will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Students from all elementary schools will be transported by bus to have their exam completed. All parents/guardians are encouraged to be present for the exam and are welcome to transport as well.  Please fill out the dental form below and return to your school by February 20.

BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR PERMISION FORMS. THESE FORMS WILL BE GOING HOME THIS WEEK TO STUDENTS, IN MANDATED GRADES, WHO HAVE NOT YET TURNED IN A PRIVATE DENTAL FORM. FORMS DATED after 7/1/22 are acceptable

Go to pdsd.org/dentist for registration forms and information
