Pennell Families,

We had an outstanding first week here at Pennell. Thank you for everyone's help

in making sure arrival and dismissal have been running smoothly. We appreciate your continued patience as we get used to our new routines.

Please check your child's take home folders from Friday for information from PTO and from me about Back to School Night.

This week's related arts schedule days:

Monday is E

Tuesday is F

Wednesday is A

Thursday is B

Friday is C

**Reminder: anyone picking up your child MUST have the gold card with your family's name on it, or they will be asked to go to the office and produce identification so that we can check it with our system.

Recess:

After two years of bringing the 4th and 5th grade out on the front field as a treat at recess, I decided to give all students in 3rd-5th grade the opportunity to have recess out front as the daily routine. The students have loved it so much in the past because they have more space, more equipment, less chance of scrapping a knee, and an area with shade where they can relax under the overhang. Although the 4th and 5th grades have expressed their delight, a significant amount of 3rd grade students have let me know that they still enjoy climbing on the playground equipment out back. I went in this week and talked to each third grade class, and as a result I will work with the assistants to create a rotation so that 3rd grade will still have some recess days out back to enjoying climbing and the slides. Please reach out to me directly with any questions.

Bike Riders:

If your child is riding a bike to school, please be sure they are wearing a bike helmet. Safety is our number one concern from the time they leave your home, until they return to you in the afternoon.

If your school nurse currently does not have a recent updated physical form on record for your child, you can have the physical examination done by your family physician. Dental forms are required by the Pennsylvania School Code for school entry Kindergarten (K) or grade one (1) and grades three (3) and seven (7).
