From Mrs. Lesser

Dear Penrose Families,
Welcome! We are incredibly excited to begin another year at Penrose Elementary School! We are looking forward to adding a third preschool room and 6 th grade! We are growing a destination district with intent, purpose, and pride! This promises to be a year filled with golden opportunities for all of our students as we strive to find ways that we can be even better than we have been before! We embark on this journey with a pledge to you, our students and parents, that this will be a year of engaging, meaningful and rigorous work in our classrooms, combined with special events.
During the 2019/2020 school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of good work, honored traditions, and continued  excellence in education . Our vision remains…
Every Student, Every Day, Learning for Life!
Teachers will be focused on improving instructional practices. We will be analyzing our student data from DIBELS testing, NWEA Maps, and CMAS. We will be encouraging our students to be active participants in monitoring their own learning. We will be implementing highly effective practices and techniques. This will assist us in defining and refining the complexities of teaching and learning. Our two school goals will be:

1.      Implement a Common Instructional Framework
An  instructional framework  is a shared belief system, and understanding of a set of  instructional  principles that are visible across classrooms. All members of the school community are committed and accountable to the framework.

    2.  Refine our Data Driven Instruction
Data-driven instruction is an educational approach that relies on information to inform teaching and learning. The idea refers to a method teachers use to improve instruction by looking at the information they have about their students. It takes place within the classroom.

We look forward to a very positive and productive year together! We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. We want and value your involvement and support in your child’s education! Your active participation is the key to the success of your young Beaver.
Again, we welcome you to Penrose, and to our wonderful learning community. Our school is a place alive with much  energy, enthusiasm , and a  high standard of excellence ! It is, indeed, a place where opportunities abound! Here’s to an AWESOME new school year as we work together to make our school a great place to work and learn each day!

                                                                                       Respectfully,
                                                                                               Mrs. Lesser

SRO did you know?

School days bring congestion: School buses are picking up their passengers, kids on bikes are hurrying to get to school before the bell rings, harried parents are trying to drop their kids off before work. It's never more important for drivers to slow down and pay attention than when kids are present – especially before and after school.

Please be sure to watch your speed in our School Zone. Tickets will be issued for speeding.

Student Placement 2019/2020

Children and families are very anxious to find the names of teachers for this school year!

Please log into Parent Portal. Your child's teacher will be listed VERY soon!

Remember, our teachers take the time to make class lists based upon the best interest of students. We balance the classrooms by gender, academic ability, special programming, social/emotional needs, and personality types, and more. Please trust us to make the best decisions for your child.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Bellino, our school secretary, and she will schedule a time for you to meet with me.

Respectfully,
Mrs. Lesser
