Special Recognition
On Aug. 30, TEXPERS Board President Jim Smith recognized Ralph Marsh upon his announcement that he is retiring from the Houston Firefighters' Relief and Retirement Fund. The honor was made during the opening ceremony of TEXPERS' 2021 Summer Educational Forum in San Antonio, Texas.

TEXPERS board member Terry Bratton, who served with Marsh on both the Houston Police Department and the Houston Police Officers Pension System, then joined Smith on stage to offer some remarks. Click the image above to watch a video of the presentation.

Austin Fire Fighters Relief & Retirement Fund (AFRS), a single employer defined benefit pension plan provides service retirement, death, disability and termination benefits for eligible members and their survivors, is seeking a Fund Administrator:
  • The Fund Administrator will report to a five-member Board of Trustees.
  • The Fund Administrator will serve as the chief administrative officer and will plan, organize, direct, and control the overall management function in accordance with policies establish by the Board.
  • The Fund Administrator will oversee an operating budget of $600k, along with a staff of two.
