Pentecost Sunday

All Saints' Episcopal Church invites you, your family, and friends to join us for Pentecost.

Pentecost is a Christian holiday celebrated 50 days after Easter. It marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem.

After our 10:30 a.m. service join us outside in our memorial garden for delicious cupcakes made by Mary Ellen Patton, jazz music, and fellowship. There will be chalk available for the kids to color on the sidewalks.
Reverse Offering for Pentecost

This Sunday is the feast of Pentecost, a day on which we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. We read in the second chapter of Acts that the disciples were all gathered in one place when the Holy Spirit came down from heaven with a sound like that of a violent wind, and a tongue as of fire rested on each one. The next thing we know, the disciples are taking it to the streets -- speaking to people in languages they can understand, breaking down barriers, and proclaiming the gospel.

This Sunday we at All Saints' will also "take it to the streets." Instead of the office giving financial help to those who come knocking on our door, we are going to give money to each of you. The only instructions are to not give it back to the church or spend it on yourself. Use it to help a neighbor down the street who recently lost their job, give it to a homeless shelter, hand it to someone in line at Kroger who is having trouble coming up with the money they need for groceries, proclaim the gospel in the way someone needs to hear it. BE the Church.

After each service there will be red cups on a table in Shoemaker Hall. Each cup containing a $20 bill, a red pinwheel reminiscent of the wind of the Holy Spirit, and a prayer for the Holy Spirit to work through us. Each household is invited to pick up a cup and use the money in it to proclaim the gospel.
Save the Date Episcopalooza and
All Saints'/Central Presbyterian VBS

This summer, the Episcopal Church in Arkansas will hold two Episcopaloozas — special daylong events for youth. The first will be Saturday, July 17, at St. Paul’s in Fayetteville, and the second will be Saturday, July 24, at St. Margaret’s in Little Rock. These are events for everyone from 1st graders to graduating seniors, with each age bracket having its own session and Covid protocols being observed.

Our workday is cancelled due to low interest for Saturday May 22 from 10am to Noon.

In the meantime people can help on their free time by picking up sticks in our park. This will help our green team that mows. Please place sticks in piles close to the parking lot so we can remove them. Many thanks!

Neighbors Table May 22, 2021

The menu of Chicken Enchiladas and a Mexican corn salad will incorporate items supplied by the Russellville High School Debate Club who sent to NT some frozen “extra” items from their end-of-the-school- year banquet. This donation came by way of Daniel Caudle and Parishioner Paul Gray. Our guests will also enjoy homemade brownies provided by NT bakers. Meals continue to go out by way of drive-by pick-up and delivery. Last Saturday 115 families were served.

If you have been wondering how you might be involved with the NT ministry there are many ways to help. With the easing of Covid-related travel restrictions several of the faithful core group of NT workers will be taking trips this summer and there’s a pressing need for helpers to occasionally substitute as cooks, take-out food packers, shoppers, choppers, and baggers. Also, we are sad to announce that Karla Powell, a regular NT team member, will be leaving on June 20 and preparing to move to her new home near Olympia, Washington, where she will be closer to her family.

So please explore with us how you might help out in ways that fit your schedule and interests/abilities. We still follow safety precautions from start to finish, so consider getting out of the house, having some good fellowship with other Parishioners and enjoying a happy time providing a meal for our neighbors. Carolyn McLellan is our new team planner. If you’d like more information, text or call Carolyn at 479 264-5969.

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes, a part of the Neighbors Table ministry, needs to restock its cupboard with cereal. Boxed cereals - national or store brands – and instant oatmeal are popular with our Neighbors Table guests.

Other items that are always needed are:
Small containers of shelf stable milk
Wrapped packages of peanut butter crackers, cookies, granola bars, etc.
Feminine hygiene products – pads and tampons
Bath soap
Shampoo
Toothpaste and floss
Laundry detergent
Dish detergent
Baby wipes
Children’s and adult socks
Adult underwear – men’s medium and women’s large.

Neighbors Table asks that you bring your donations to All Saints’ Episcopal Church on Saturdays between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Please place your gifts in the Loaves and Fishes Wagon at the door outside Sutherland Hall. Also, you can place your donations on Sundays in the wagon that will be in the narthex. As a reminder, you can support Neighbors Table with a donation to Food Ministries in the Giving tab at the All Saints’ webpage.

Practicing Prayer

This week we’ll begin with silent prayer as always, and then discuss the Introduction to
our new book, The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three, by Cynthia Bourgeault.

We meet via Zoom on Sundays at 5:00 to 6:00. All are welcome! Please email Catherine at [email protected] for a Zoom link.

Please celebrate the following birthdays this week with us: especially Milly Chevaillier, David Daily, Shawn Thurber.
O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on
your servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow
in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness
all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For those celebrating an anniversary this week: Jack and Carol Lee.

O gracious and everliving God, look mercifully upon your servants who come to renew the promises they have made to each other. Grant them your blessing, and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor and keep their promises and vows; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Please let the office know if your birthday or anniversary has been missed, so that we may add the date to our records.

You can designate your donation toward a specific ministry or our general fund.
