Peoria Park District Honors Board President Robert L. Johnson Sr. for 30 Years of Extraordinary Service

PEORIA, IL (December 9, 2025) – The Peoria Park District is proud to announce the adoption of a formal resolution honoring Board President Robert L. Johnson Sr. for 30 years of dedicated service to the Pleasure Driveway and Park District of Peoria.


President Johnson, first appointed to the Board of Trustees in December 1995, has spent three decades championing equitable access to parks, recreation, and community enrichment for all Peoria residents. His tenure, marked by steadfast leadership and a deep commitment to public service, has strengthened the Peoria Park District and positively shaped the community it serves.

“For thirty years, President Johnson has been a constant source of dedication and compassion,” said Emily Cahill, Executive Director of the Peoria Park District. “His belief in the power of parks to build community has helped guide our organization through moments of challenge and opportunity. His impact surpasses the District’s 9000 acres and will be felt for generations.”


Throughout his service, President Johnson has been instrumental in advancing the Peoria Park District’s mission. Under his leadership, the District has achieved significant progress in capital improvements, facility development, program innovation, environmental stewardship, and partnerships that expand community access. His thoughtful guidance has strengthened Board culture, supported sound financial stewardship, and upheld transparency and accountability in decision-making.


The resolution, anticipated to be unanimously adopted by the Board of Trustees on December 10, 2025, expresses deep admiration and gratitude for President Johnson’s contributions, noting his unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of life for the Peoria community.


The Peoria Park District extends its heartfelt appreciation to President Robert L. Johnson Sr. for his decades of leadership, generosity, and unwavering belief in the transformative power of parks.
