  • Supplies will vary based on individual courses.
  • Teachers will inform students of specific needs during the first week of school.

SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
  • This school year, all MMSD students will receive free meals under the USDA's Summer Seamless Option program (SSO). All students 18 years old and younger are eligible for meals at no charge. Under this program, we are still required to promote and process applications for free and reduced priced meals because this establishes a household's eligibility for other benefits, such as state reporting, Wisconsin School Day Milk Program, and P-EBT.

  • District-funded Madison Metro bus passes are available for students who:
  1. Reside within the boundaries of the school attendance area, AND
  2. Reside more than one and one-half (1.5) miles from their attendance area school, AND
  3. Have demonstrable financial need, including qualifying for the Free & Reduced Meal Program. Note: A new application for the Free & Reduced Meal Program must be filled out EACH YEAR.

From Principal Leavy

Dear East High School Community,

My name is Sean Leavy, and it is with great pride and excitement I introduce myself as the Principal of East High School. I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve our students, families, and community as a new member of the East family.

I look forward to connecting and building our partnership in education as we continue on the journey of transformation in order to ensure each Purgolder’s success. My experience as an educational leader has helped me understand the importance of strong relationships with students, staff, and community partners. Through focused intentionality, together we will build and maintain a strong sense of belonging; increase academic rigor; and promote a shared ownership in developing experiences grounded in the social, emotional, and academic learning of all students. Together, we will move toward success in the following ways:

Lead with equity by identifying and disrupting systems and practices of oppression to ensure all students are valued and challenged.

Build upon our sense of community among students, staff, families, and community partners in order to promote the development of a positive school culture and climate where all feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Strengthen our communication systems, which allow sharing of information in a timely way and allow for input from all stakeholders to shape our school community.

Focusing on instruction to ensure that effective, rigorous, student-centered learning occurs in every classroom; and where we welcome, encourage, and support every student.

I am eager to continue this journey, and am excited to begin connecting with you.
