ATHLETICS UPDATES

Students interested in joining an East athletics team should complete the online forms. Students can contact coaches using the coaches directory or Athletics Interest Form.

Winter Sports Eligibility
Week 9 Progress Grades will determine academic eligibility to play winter sports. Winter Student Athletes who are not passing all classes at the Week 9 Progress Grade report, will not be able to start competing when the winter sports season starts.

Per the Athletic Code, any non-passing grade(s) reported at the 9 Week (aka First Quarter) point of the semester will result in an Academic Suspension, as follows:
  • 1 non-passing grade = ineligible for the first 10 school days following teachers’ submissions of grades and must include at least one contest, but not more than 22% of scheduled contests.
  • 2+ non-passing grades = ineligible for the first 15 school days following teachers’ submissions of grades and must include at least two contests, but not more than 33% of scheduled contests.

Eligibility questions should be referred to Winter Sports Coaches or the Athletic Office.

Open Workouts In The Weight Room
Coach Spooner and Coach Haste will be supervising open workouts in the Weight Room Monday through Thursday afternoons from 4:15-5:30pm starting on Monday, Oct 4. A brief fitness assessment will be required for anyone on their first day of attendance, but all students are welcome to participate. The Coaches will work with you on creating an appropriate workout, proper technique in performing the workout, and continuing maintenance for workouts.

FEATURED PROGRAM
The Eastside Players

The Eastside Players, East High School's Theatre Production Company, is hard at work rehearsing for its production of Mrs. Rhinehardt's The Wizard of Oz. This is the first theatrical production of this season and is East High's entry into the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival. This is the group's 11th year participating in this competitive theatre program. "It has been very energizing to see how much our theatre community appreciates the opportunity to return to storytelling on stage," said Paul Milisch, the Producing Director of Theatre. Mark Penisten, the Theatre's Technical Manager has also been working with East's Technical Theatre Club daily to train students on the protocols and technology, including operating cameras and video switching to offer a high quality live-streaming product in the Margaret Williams Theatre.

Paul and Mark have worked together since 2008, and share a common priority to put students in ownership of all elements of live theatre, not just performance.

This production will be available to the public October 22nd-24th with audience information forthcoming.
