JCSD Sends Delegation to the

South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM)

We were excited to have a delegation of teachers and leaders from Jasper County School District attend this professional learning opportunity in Greenville, SC from November 16-17, 2023.

The 47th Annual SCCTM Conference was an awesome opportunity for professional development for teachers and math leaders, alike. The theme of this year's conference was, "RENEW: Explore the Joys of Mathematics!" Attendees had the opportunity to attend over 100 sessions over the two-day conference on sessions that centered around student engagement, artificial intelligence in the math classroom, usage of manipulatives and resources to enhance student math experiences, STEAM, and so much more.

The South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM) acts to support quality mathematics teaching by advocating at the state level for South Carolina educators and students; providing opportunities for leadership, professional development, and networking, and encouraging the creation of research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

In addition, we celebrate one of our own, Mr. Eugene Bellamy, Jr., who officially began his tenure as President of SCCTM at the conclusion of the 47th Annual Business Meeting.

The SCCTM Conference 2024 will take place in Columbia, SC from November 14-15, 2024, and the theme will be, "Stop, Collaborate, & Listen: Thinking Mathematically Together!"

We encourage each of our schools to ensure we plan to send teachers and/or leaders to this conference for the 24-25 school year to ensure our professional staff has the opportunity to learn and grow with and from their colleagues around the State.
