Valhalla 41 Kingfisher

Viking said they were going to revolutionize the center console industry – and they did just that,” says Jereme Kokes, who earlier this season took delivery with his wife Dawn of their Valhalla 41 Kingfisher. “So here we are today as part of that revolution. We’ve owned other quality boats. But nothing compares to a Valhalla. Just look at this boat. I’m so excited I’m shaking.”

“We love everything from the classic lines and quality to the ability Valhalla Boatworks [VBW] gave us to personalize our boat,” said Jereme, who bought the V-41 with quad Mercury 400s through the authorized VBW dealer Valhalla Boat Sales’ New Jersey branch. “There are so many things I wanted to do with my previous brand of center console that they were either incapable of doing or just wouldn’t do. Valhalla Boatworks always found a way to accommodate us.” Adds Dawn: “It’s gorgeous. It’s beautiful. It’s comfortable. We’ll be out on the boat as much as possible.” With three children from 6 to 10 years old (Anna, Elizabeth and Jeremy), the molded-in U-shaped forward seating was a must.

“We both love to fish,” says Dawn. “Our kids love to fish.” That said, it’s no surprise that the Kokes outfitted Kingfisher with a custom Palm Beach Towers (PBT) marlin tower and custom-designed Valhalla fillet table. “We’ll be taking the boat offshore for tuna and marlin,” says Jereme. “The tower is tremendous, and the fillet table is perfect – so much better than having a cutting board on top of the live well or cutting on a cooler. And it’s removable.”

Kingfisher features a custom electronics installation from the Viking subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics (AME), which features a trio of 17-inch Garmin multi-function displays, a Fusion stereo and JL Audio speakers and subwoofers. Working together, AME and PBT also installed 4-foot VHF antennas with electric fold-down mounts to enable Kingfisher to get under local bridges. The hardtop underside matches the gelcoat, which is a custom “L&H Green,” a color named after Dawn’s family’s former business – L&H Plumbing Supply – that has been used on all of her family’s boats over the years.

Here’s a good look at the boat’s U-shaped seating, forward lounge, wide sidedecks, faux teak toe rail and marlin tower. The AME installation also includes a hardtop-mounted FLIR thermal imaging camera and a Garmin open-array radar antenna. The PBT tower and hardtop feature a complete upper helm station with a satin black sunshade frame and 22-foot Gemlux internally-rigged carbon-fiber outriggers.

There’s also a story behind the boat’s name – one that has a connection to both Dawn and Jereme’s families. “My father-in-law has always been an admirer of birds, so all of Jereme’s boats have been named Kingfisher,” says Dawn. “And I grew up on Kingfisher Cove and lived on Kingfisher Circle in Brick, New Jersey. So there are so many connections to that name. It makes perfect sense.”
