Grammy®-nominated British composer James Whitbourn has brought to life the extraordinary story of a young girl in hiding from the Nazis during World War II. Named after the full forename of Anne Frank, Annelies is the first major choral setting of Anne Frank: T
he Diary of a Young Girl
. The fourteen chronological movements are based on a libretto translated by Melanie Challenger, distilled from Anne's journal entries.
Annelies is a poignant and deeply moving concert experience that will evoke reflections on universal and contemporary issues, inspired by memories of a remarkable girl living in isolation and striving to retain her trust in hope, truth and goodness.
Featuring Conspirare Symphonic Choir, soprano soloist Stefanie Moore and instrumentalists Vanguel Tangarov (clarinet), Sarah Silver (violin), Barbara George (cello) and Faith DeBow (piano).
