Another wonderful year of music from your amazing students. There is one final concert this year for each group to showcase all the learning that has happened this year. Once again we will have Reserved Concert Seating available. Attention Choir Parents   Baked goods donations are still needed for this concert. Baked items or donations from your favorite bakery are much appreciated.  Send with students or drop off at the Concert at 6pm. 

Uniform turn in after the Concert   All seniors, Treble Choir and students not performing at graduation must turn in the concert clothes after Thursday's Choir concert.
Remember to bring a change of clothes with you to the concert!  Check in is outside the stage door in the gym hallway at the end of the evening.  Please be sure to have all pieces of your uniform, including the hanger .

Remember to pick up your Coffee Orders at the Spring Concerts!

Choir Placement Auditions
Placement Auditions for current choir students will be held in class during the week of June 6th.  Auditions for students NEW to choir will be Wednesday, June 8th, after school.  New students can sign up for an audition time in the Black Box Theatre (NE 224).  Click HERE for the audition information!

ATTENTION CHOIR FAMILIES: There are 35 students who have not paid the $130 Annual Fee in full for the 2015- 2016 school year.  Please watch your inbox for an email from Choir Rep Jen Witeck or ask your student if there is a balance due as Ms. Rowley spoke with each student personally.  While most details are in the email, your help in sending in payment no later than June 1, 2016 is most appreciated as we will soon be looking forward to the 2016 - 2017 school year. Thank you!

Treble Choir will be traveling around Seattle on Friday, June 3rd for their annual spring tour.  Students will sing at elementary and middle schools throughout Ballard, Queen Anne, and Magnolia, will sing for the residents at Bayview Retirement Community, and will perform at Pike Place Market!  We are looking for a number of parents to chaperone and drive this day.  Please let Ms. Rowley know if you are available at  crpelavin@seattleschools.org .

Vocal Jazz Solo Night will be held Wednesday, June 8th at 7:00 PM in the 
Black Box Theatre.  The evening will feature performances of jazz standards sung by all Vocal Jazz members, in collaboration with the incomparable Ev Stern Jazz Trio (a professional Seattle-based jazz combo).  Please join us for an evening of great music!

Spring Band Concert: Wednesday, June 1st at the BHS Performance Center.  We need donations for the Bake Sale and several parents to help out with Concert Uniform Check In.  Please contact Jill Hansen if you can help out.

Spring Concert Rehearsal Dates:

Students performing Stravinsky (Orchestra Concert) also have these  Dates:

The  Wind Ensemble  was accepted into the  "New York International Music Festival to be held next  April 8-12, 2017. 
Deposit of $500 is due Friday, June 10th.   We estimate this tour will cost close to $2000.

"Buy" A Ballard Theatre Seat!

Buy a seat plaque in the Earl Kelly Performing Arts Center for $50 and we will place the plaque with your name on the arm. You can use the opportunity to remember a loved one, print a favorite verse or name of a performer.

Incoming Freshmen Music Meeting  Wednesday, June 15th at 7:00 PM
There will be a brief, informational meeting i n the Instrumental Music Room at BHS  for all incoming freshmen that will be involved in the music program. We realize it is a busy time of year, but if you are able to attend, please come! It is a time to meet the teachers, learn a bit about the program, hear from current students, and meet other 8th graders. We will also be talking about next year's calendar of events.

Graduation Performance on Monday, June 20th for the following:  Concert Choir, Adv Women's Chorale, Symphonic  Band,  Wind Ensemble,  and selected Percussionists   Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from 
Memorial Stadium and  should arrive  no later than 6:30pm at the Stadium and be in full Concert Attire.   Students can bring a black jacket to wear while they are not performing. The ceremony begins at 8pm and is estimated to be done around 9:30pm.  After graduation, all students will turn in their Concert Attire at the Stadium so they need to bring an extra change of clothes and shoes. 


WE NEED YOU!   Come make Saturday June 11th a day for Ballard Performing Arts. It is the annual Clean Up Day and many hands make light work. Parents and Students (Service Hours) come anytime from 9:00AM - 1:00 AM and help the Directors get their programs in place for the summer hiatus.  Come for a short time or stay for as long as you can help out. Then head over to Paxi to keep the giving happening with the Pizza Fundraiser. Sign up HERE to pick a time slot for Clean Up Day.

Summertime is an important time for students to continue working on their musical or theatrical skills, meeting and working with students from other schools, and gaining college resume builders for college applications.  Click HERE for a pdf of a partial list of some of the many opportunities available in our region.  We hope that Ballard Performing Arts students will participate in some of these camps and workshops.  Go directly to their sites for more information and please let us know if there is an opportunity that you would like to add to this list.

All City Band   The award winning  All-City Band  is seeking members for the 2016 summer marching band. As a part of this group students will improve their musicianship, learn new music and make new friends. There is no audition regardless of experience, students will be taught everything they need to know by the instructional staff of college volunteers. Students in the graduating classes of 2016-2020 are eligible to participate. Register at   allcityband.org/registration
