I am delighted to announce that Perins has been recognised as a high-performing school and has joined Leading Edge, a national network of secondary and special schools. Due to the schools excellent performance last year, SSAT has awarded Perins with two Educational Outcomes awards for 2015. Firstly, recognising Perins in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for attainment and secondly, the top 20% for progress in the 2015 end of KS4 examinations. This is based on the students' best 8 average point scores at Key Stage 4. Please click

A two minute silence was held on Friday, organised by our History Department, to commemorate the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme. This was followed by the Last Post and a reading from students. This ceremony forms part of our 'Perins Remembers' commemoration, an ongoing project which the school started in 2014. Assemblies were also held throughout the week to inform students in all year groups about the process of remembrance.
Last week, the Maths department took a team of four Year 10 students, along with four year 6 students from Sun Hill Junior School, to the Alton College Maths Team Challenge. The students did incredibly well and came second overall. This is the first time Perins has been placed in the top three for this competition which is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to Harry Buchanan, Jonathan Hamilton, Sam Rudgyard and Harvey Riches for all of their hard work shown in this competition.
Excitement and anticipation is building for the production of Phantom of the Opera. Creative Arts and cast members have been working tirelessly in rehearsals to ensure that it will be an unforgettable production. I have been informed that there a still a few tickets remaining so click here or further information on how to purchase tickets to make sure you do not miss out!
This year's Sports Day, held on Tuesday 28th June, was a fantastic opportunity for students to earn points for their houses and to demonstrate their sporting skills. Following the introduction of the new house system, competition was particularly strong this year, and each house wanted to do their very best to earn as many points as possible. The rain held off for the whole afternoon and everyone had a great time competing and cheering on their houses. After some tense competition, Ignis emerged as the winning house with 1088 points. The year group winners were 7V2, 8I1, 9I2 & 10I1 and individual trophies were awarded as follows:
Victor Ludorum - Tom Gillespie Victor Ludroix - Sophie Jarrett Respect - Alex Horger Excellence - Kaitlin Lafferty Friendship - Holly & Rebecca Webster Determination - Chyna Metz Inspiration - Oliver Arkell Courage - Sarah Mills Equality - Lottie Harrison
The whole day was a fantastic display of sporting ability and effort. Well done to every student who took part.
Congratulations to year 10 student, Jack Caldwell who trialled for the London Irish U16's for next season and has been selected! Jack will start pre-season training at London Irish in Hazelwood, Surrey throughout July and August. This is a fantastic achievement and I look forward to hearing how training goes when we return from the summer break.
As mentioned previously, over the past eight months we have carried out an extensive review of the site security across the entire campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. Fencing and gates have now been erected across the campus and signage has been installed at all entry points to show clearly when various users can access the site. Please click here to view the Perins Campus Opening Hours which will be in place from today (Monday 4th July). In addition, the permissive footpath entrance from Bridge Road will now be closed. Pedestrian access to the school can be gained from The Avenue, using the entrance by the Astro Turf or along Grange Road and entering site from Jacklyns Lane.
Thank you for your co-operation, I am sure you will appreciate the need for the school to introduce these measures to further safeguard its students, staff and visitors.
