Homecoming 2022 Update

Perkins Homecoming Spirit Week is next week, September 19-24. The week will be capped with the Homecoming parade and game on Friday, and the Homecoming dance on Saturday. Each of the four buildings will have activities revolving around this year's "Candyland" theme. (See attached flyer for the PHS schedule.)

The Homecoming parade will leave the Erie County Fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. It will turn south onto Columbus Avenue, and west onto Marshall Avenue. The parade then turns south onto South Avenue toward Briar Middle School.

Participants in the parade should report to the fairgrounds by 4:45 p.m., and enter via the south entrance. The parade will line up at the main entrance of the fairgrounds.

The homecoming court will be announced prior to the start of the football game at 6:30 p.m. and will be escorted across the field by their parents or guardians. The football game kickoff is at 7 p.m. against Clyde.

The Homecoming Dance (for high school students only) will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday in the PHS gym. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will go on sale in the main office at PHS starting Tuesday, September 20 before and after school and during lunches.

Friday Night Lights Reminder For Students And Parents

All students of Perkins Schools, including our elementary, intermediate and middle school students, are encouraged and welcome to attend PHS football games and other athletics events.

However, parents and guardians, please remind your students that proper behavior is expected during home football games and other school district-sponsored events in Firelands Health Stadium. District policies and stadium rules call for all students to be in the stadium stands two minutes prior to kickoff or the start of an event, and back in the stadium stands two minutes after the second half begins.

All students are expected to remain in the stands while the game is in progress. Students can use the concession area and restrooms as necessary. Horseplay, running, and playing catch are not permitted by students attending games and activities.

Backpacks and large bags are not permitted in the stadium.

Any students who leave the stadium before the end of a game will not be re-admitted.

Reduced Price And Free Meal Program Forms Now Available Online

With the start of the 2022-2023 school year, the free-lunches-for-all program that began during the pandemic has come to an end.

Going forward, all students must pay full price for breakfasts and lunches in the school cafeterias unless they qualify and have been approved for the Free and Reduced Meal program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. (Qualifications can be found here.)

If families want to apply for the Free and Reduced Meal program, parents or guardians must complete the required forms that can be found by accessing students' PaySchoolsCentral.com account.

If students qualify for free lunches, they also will qualify to have their school fees (not activity or athletic fees) waived.
