October 8th, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to Noon
Omni Houston Hotel
TSAHC and LISC San Antonio are pleased to present a training on Permanent Supportive Housing Tuesday, October 8th in Houston. This free session will provide participants with the knowledge needed to plan and implement a successful permanent supportive housing project, a model utilized to house the most vulnerable homeless populations.

Participants will learn about the real estate development process and proforma assumptions that are specific to this model, as well as best practices in case management and housing retention. The training is ideal for nonprofit housing developers, social service agencies, property managers and others interested in utilizing the model to end homelessness in their community.

This training is offered as a complimentary pre-session prior to the 2019 Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness (more details below). You do not have to be registered for the conference to attend the training.

Texas' Rural Rental Affordability Problem (and What We're Doing to Address It)
Last month, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (Dallas Fed) released a report detailing the looming affordability problem in Texas’ rural affordable housing communities.

As stated in the report, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development (USDA RD) Section 515 program is one of the major federal programs aimed at subsidizing rental housing for low-income, elderly, and disabled residents in rural communities.

Latest Data Shows Slowing Annual Rent Increases
A recent article published on RENTCafé.com documents changes in rental costs across the United States over the past year. The main takeaway is that rents are increasing at a slower pace.

Taking its information from Yardi Matrix real estate data, RENTCafé’s report notes that average monthly rent in the U.S. reached $1,442 and increased 2.5% year-over-year, the slowest annual increase in 18 months.
