Hello, Map Friends!

Today we have a slightly different email format: Staff Highlights!

As we go through our days here at the store, we interact with many different people and maps. It is quite fun to revisit maps and see them through the eyes of people who have never seen anything like them. So we thought we would keep track of the maps that bring us joy throughout the month and share them with you! We hope you will enjoy seeing a few of the maps we have shared with our in-store customers lately!

P.S. Our guest rooms are filling up for the summer, so if you are thinking about visiting the Cape, book soon!

We have scattered availability throughout June, July, and August, and you can always contact us to ask about what dates are available! Autumn is also a wonderful time on Cape Cod, definitely worth a visit!

We are always adding new maps to the website, and although new items aren't the focus of this email, you can always visit our Newly Listed Maps section to see everything from the past month or so. We have a Great Maps - Super Deals category that offers our discounted items. And don't forget that we also have a category specifically for maps under $100!

If you are looking for something specific, we recommend using the search function or the "Filter By" function on the left side above the listings to search within a category.

~Gmail users: be sure to click "View entire message" at the bottom of the email so you don't miss anything!

Antique Railroad Maps and Booklets

The romance of the age of rail travel is palpable in these wonderful maps, books, and booklets. A trip that once took weeks could be completed in a matter of days. Not only that, but trains were generally safer and more comfortable than travelling by ship or carriage. These maps evoke the trips their previous owners embarked on, and all the fascinating historical details that attend such musings. We have heard there is increased interest in rail travel in the US these days, which is very exciting! Perri recently made a trip to NYC by rail and it was marvelous!

Levasseur Maps

These sumptuously decorated French maps come from Levasseur's Atlas National Illustre... Each sheet features a detailed map with a border filled with images that evoke the area on the map, whether that be a bison and vultures on the map of North America or symbols of the local produce and trades on the maps of each Department of France. Taking a moment to look closely rewards you with new observations each time.

Adams Syn Chronological Chart or Map of History

If you are searching for something fascinating, unusual, and colorful, look no further! These charts cover history from Adam and Eve to the year of their publication (1878 or 1885) with timelines, maps, illustrations, and historical notes. Approximately 22 feet long, they could be sectioned and framed in a long hallway or one above another on a large wall. It is difficult to explain just how amazing these are, and they are incredible to see in person.

Statistical Maps

Statistical maps and charts offer a fascinating glimpse into a place and time. You can learn not only how many barrels of corn was produced in a region per year, or how many Methodists, Catholics, and Presbyterians there were in a given area, but also what people were interested in, concerned about, and tracking with statistics (such as how many Swedish-born people there were in different parts of the US).
