President's Message Hello Families and Friends of Pershing Middle School! Welcome back from what I hope was a nice break for you and your family. We had our last PTO meeting right before the break and Dr. Shetzer addressed the rise in fights and unacceptable student behavior at our school. I urge everyone who did not attend the meeting to read the minutes of the meeting when they are posted on our website.   The PTO will be hosting a movie night on Friday 12/17 at 5:00pm on the field. The tickets are $5 each and will go on sale the week of December 13-17th at the school store. We will be showing the movie ELF and have concessions for sale. To have a fun and safe event for our students we would like to ask some parents to volunteer to help chaperone the event. UIL Announcement

Pershing is building this year’s UIL team and we want you to join.  Stop by Room 126 today, November 30th, after school for a short informational meeting. If you can’t make the meeting please stop by Ms Fogarty’s room to sign up or email NForgarty@houstonisd.org.  Come be a part of winning tradition!

Picture Retakes are December 6th Order your Fall Pictures HERE

If you ordered photos, they were delivered to school yesterday. They will be sent home today or tomorrow. This will give you time to see if you need to take retakes or not.

Angel Tree Once again instead of gifts, we will be collecting gift cards from various stores. The cards will then be distributed to the families for use for the holidays. We are requesting gift card donations in increments of $25-$50 to sponsor at least 50 Pershing families.   We are requesting gift cards for specialty stores, grocery stores, and Amazon. Please no VISA or American Express Gift Cards!  Ideally, we’d like to give each family a grocery store card and a specialty store card (Claire’s, Game Stop, Amazon, Forever 21, etc.) for the student.  The cards can be dropped off in the front office until December 10th.      Thank you for your support of our Pershing families.

HSPVA’s Middle School Workshops have returned in person this year! Students will get hands on instruction by current PVA upperclassmen and a chance to work in state of the art studios (and see the school!) While participation has no effect on a student’s application, it’s a great way to start a portfolio and check out the art magnet HS. Creative Writing – December 4 Find out more information here.
