Amanda Killon-Atwood, Biology Instructor, and Amy Honeycutt, Coordinator to the VP of Academic and Student Affairs, were awarded the Fall 2022 Faculty and Staff Servant Leadership Awards.

The recognition for Faculty & Staff Servant Leadership Awards formally acknowledges a faculty and staff member who exemplifies dedication to the mission of Surry Community College and meritorious service to the college and the community. Nominees must exhibit qualities that enhance community engagement and/or make the college a better place to work.

Surry Community College President Dr. David Shockley welcomed former college presidents, Dr. Deborah Friedman and Dr. Frank Sells, to campus for the SCC Board of Trustees Christmas social and dinner on December 12, in the Grand Hall of the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture and Enology.

The Surry Community College Board of Trustees recently approved the Surry Community College Strategic Plan for 2023-2028.

The document highlights the college’s mission, values, and goals for the next five years. The goals cover five areas: Student Success, Enhanced Learning, Community Development, Institutional Success, and Communication.

“The guidelines set forth in the plan will dominate our college culture and serve as the benchmark for measuring our success throughout the next five years,” said SCC President Dr. David Shockley.

Surry Community College will be closed for the holidays on December 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and January 2, 2023.

December 23, 26, 27, and January 2, 2023 are official holiday closings. December 28, 29, and 30 are additional Board-approved closings. Employees must use annual leave, personal observance leave, special leave granted by the General Assembly, accumulated compensatory leave, or leave without pay for these days.
