"Today we mourn the loss of Pope Francis," said Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Sue Ernster on Monday, April 21, the day of his passing. "We pray for him as his words and actions continue to teach us how to live with mercy and hope."
As we pray, we celebrate the pontiff whose namesake was St. Francis of Assisi, the pope who called us to care for all creation, the leader who embodied compassion and humility to the world. FSPA is celebrating this Jubilee Year of Hope by sharing inspiring reflections from sisters, affiliates, partners in mission, donors and ministry grant recipients, including this message and the image "Hope Spring Light" from Dawn's Place, an organization missioned to stop sex trafficking and support survivors.
"I am continually inspired by the resilience and strength of the women at Dawn’s Place, as they reach toward the hope of recovery from their sexual trauma," shares Executive Director Meaghan V. Patterson, SSJ. "Their stories remind me that healing is about embracing the possibility of transformation — being open to change, willing to learn, and, above all, courageous enough to walk alongside others on this path."
