Join us: 147 years of perpetual adoration

Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Mary Eve Hytry rang the bell to commemorate 146 years of perpetual adoration on Aug. 1, 2024.

On August 1, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, with affiliates and partners in mission, will gather in Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to celebrate 147 years of perpetual adoration — a sacred practice that began in 1878. All are invited to join us for the event — in person or online — to begin with a bell-ringing ritual at 10:45 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Email communications@fspa.org to request a link for virtual viewing.

FSPA commits $2 million to Boys & Girls Clubs

Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Mary Ann Gschwind and Sue Ernster had some fun on July 28 at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse's Dave and Barb Skogen location in Holmen, celebrating the partnership with the organization that serves local youth.

The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have pledged $2 million to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse. The commitment ensures the organization's long-term ability to provide equitable childhood well-being and development — for the nearly 4,500 youth served annually — through mentorship, food security, mental health and wellness support and life skills training. Says Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse CEO Jake Erickson of FSPA, "We believe our shared values, especially our mutual commitment to compassion and serving those in need, make this partnership one of purpose and deep alignment. We hope their generosity inspires others to consider how they, too, can leave a lasting legacy for kids in our community." Watch news coverage of the story at wxow.com.

Catholic moms find inspiration in Sister Thea

Seeking to defend human dignity, respond to injustice and educate others in Catholic social teaching, a group of Catholic mothers in the U.S. has created the Dorothea Project. They reportedly found inspiration for the project's name "from two Catholic women known for speaking out against injustices," Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Thea Bowman and Dorothy Day.

Hope with SALT Center

This Jubilee Year of Hope has FSPA and our ministry grant partners sharing inspiration that fuels journeys of faith. The SALT Center (Shining a Light Together) in Fort Dodge, Iowa, has served and assisted more than 3,200 individuals, providing services for those unhoused in the community over a period of 20 months. "Every day we wake up with hope and love in our hearts, as we can provide a space that all individuals can come into and be treated with dignity and respect."
