This week we're presenting the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Hood Museum of Art and Hera Gallery

The three shows we're presenting this week look at the world through three different lenses. In Vermont see how different artists interpret their surroundings. In New Hampshire, see a culture's history represented in traditional artworks. And in Rhode Island see how two women shed light on their own lives and those of other women.

Fall 2022 Solo Exhibitions at Southern Vermont Arts Center

Southern Vermont Arts Center presents Fall 2022 Solo Exhibitions, which features 10 artists whose work was selected by the center. They represent a wide range of mediums and styles from photography to painting to etching. Above, Evan McGlinn's "North Head Afternoon" is a surreal snapshot of a classic New England scene. The oil painting behind the three bottle-lined windows seems to glow from within, illuminating the space. The show's opening reception is on Saturday, September 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m.— 5 p.m. Southern Vermont Arts Center is located at 860 SVAC Drive/West Road, Manchester, VT. Body/Image at Hera Gallery

in Wakefield, Rhode Island, through October 8

Hera Gallery presents Body/Image, featuring the work of Tracy Weisman and Sonja Czekalski. These two, concurrent solo exhibits explore "changing body and societal expectations," and "womanhood and women’s bodies through the female gaze." Both women's work, from Weisman's fiber and mixed medium pieces to Czekalski's mixed media and sculptural assemblages interrogate society and culture from a woman's point of view. The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hera Gallery is located at 10 High Street, Wakefield, RI.
