Wednesday, September 12, 6:30pm
with Peter Kenny, Co- President of the
Classical American Homes Preservation Trust
Ever imagine what the Jay Mansion might have looked liked fully furnished? Peter Kenny, Co-President and Executive Director of the  Classical American Homes Preservation Trust   will speak on the furniture of Duncan Phyfe in the late 1830s and early 1840s, using the National Historic Landmark building Millford (1841), in South Carolina as a focus for discussing Greek Revival architecture and interior decoration of the period. A Q&A session and reception will follow.

Peter Kenny, longtime Curator and Administrator of   The American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum , is considered one of the nation’s foremost authorities on American furniture. Classical American Homes is a not-for-profit foundation whose focus is the preservation of classical residential architecture, period furnishings, and landscapes in America. It was founded by the late Richard Hampton Jenrette. Read more here.

Primary Research Powered by Volunteers!
In addition to helping with park maintenance and archaeology, several volunteers helped with creating finding aids for our items in our Archives and transcribing original documents. Their original research and history discoveries are recorded in our updated Volunteer Blog first launched by Landy Erlick (Harvard '19) in 2014. See what they found out!
