As Stewards for your wine journey, we’re excited to introduce a new way to learn all about wine together!

Based on your feedback from our recent survey, we heard a clear interest in deepening wine knowledge and having more opportunities for approachable wine education. We’ve used that input to shape how the Wine Atelier is structured and how the program will work.

Tomorrow, we’ll announce the Petit Philippe Wine Atelier: our new wine education program and an expansion of last year’s Masterclass series. The Atelier will feature a full calendar of monthly workshops exploring a wide range of regions, styles, and wine topics through guided tastings and approachable learning designed to help you enjoy wine more confidently.

Membership offers the best way to reserve workshops and enjoy additional perks throughout the year, while individual sessions will still be available when a topic catches your interest.

w/Winemaker & Proprietor Rick Davis

Join us for an intimate evening with CalStar Cellars, featuring special guest Rick Davis, proprietor and winemaker behind this Sonoma-based label known for hand-crafted, food-friendly wines and a deep focus on site-driven Pinot Noir.

Over a multi-course dinner, guests will explore a curated lineup spanning Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Mendocino, and Anderson Valley, showcasing the range and elegance of California’s cool-climate wine regions.

Chef Charlie Reid will craft seasonal pairings to match each pour, while Rick shares the stories behind the vineyards, the nuances of cool-climate Pinot, and the craft that goes into building a small, expressive portfolio.

'Ciel du Cheval Vineyard' Red Blend 2020

Red Mountain • Washington

Andrew Will is one of Washington’s long-standing leaders in Bordeaux-style blends, and Ciel du Cheval is one of the most historic vineyards on Red Mountain. The site’s warm days, wind exposure, and well-drained soils consistently produce structured, age-worthy wines with depth and balance.

This bottling shows how Washington can deliver power while still maintaining freshness and structure.

Varietal & Vinification: Approximately 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain. Fermented in small lots and aged in French oak before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Dark cherry, blackberry, and plum with notes of cedar, dried herbs, and graphite. Medium-to-full bodied with firm tannins and a long, structured finish.

This is a strong introduction to Red Mountain’s style and a classic example of Washington Bordeaux-inspired blending.

'Ciel du Cheval Vineyard' Red Mountain Syrah 2022

A classic Red Mountain Syrah: ripe, savory, and structured, with the kind of depth that makes Washington such a strong value in serious red wine. Januik is known for polished, vineyard-driven wines, and Ciel du Cheval is one of the state’s most recognized sites for intensity and consistency.

What makes this bottling especially compelling is how it balances bold flavor with a firm frame. It’s approachable if you like richer reds, but it also has the peppery, meaty, earth-driven details Syrah lovers look for... plus the structure to develop well over time.

Varietal & Vinification: 100% Syrah from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. Aged 19 months in barrel (60% new French oak, 40% once-used French oak).

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Hanatoro is a small, family-run project focused on vineyard expression and careful winemaking, and this Cabernet shows how approachable Washington Cabernet can be while still delivering depth and structure.

Compared to Red Mountain, Walla Walla often leans a bit softer and more fruit-forward, which makes this wine especially inviting as an introduction to Washington Cabernet.
