THIS WEEK'S TASTING FLIGHT:

Arnot-Roberts

California's Modern Classics: The Vision of Arnot-Roberts

This week, we’re spotlighting one of California’s most visionary producers: Arnot-Roberts. Founded by childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, this Sonoma-based duo has become a benchmark for modern, terroir-driven winemaking in California. Their wines are known for their restraint, purity, and Old World sensibility, crafted from some of the state’s most compelling vineyard sites.

Our $29 tasting flight features three distinctive wines that perfectly capture their thoughtful and transparent approach to winemaking:

2024 'Watson Ranch' Chardonnay

  • From a windswept site overlooking San Pablo Bay, this crystalline Chardonnay balances coastal energy with striking mineral precision. Lean, focused, and beautifully textured; it’s California Chardonnay through a Burgundian lens.

2024 'North Coast' Trousseau

  • An early pioneer of this Jura variety in California, Arnot-Roberts’ Trousseau is light in color but bursting with personality: wild strawberry, spice, and forest floor. Silky, expressive, and endlessly charming.

2024 California Red Blend

  • A harmonious blend showcasing vibrant fruit and savory undertones, this bottling highlights the duo’s deft touch with texture and balance. Elegant structure meets pure, drinkable pleasure.

Arnot-Roberts continues to define the cutting edge of California’s new generation of winemakers, championing balance, authenticity, and vineyard expression. This flight is an ideal way to experience their artistry side by side.

Join us starting tomorrow in the Tasting Room and discover why Arnot-Roberts has become a name whispered with admiration among sommeliers and collectors alike. These wines won’t last long... Come taste what all the buzz is about!

Arnot-Roberts 'Watson Ranch' Chardonnay 2024

Napa Valley, California

PURCHASE ONLINE HERE

$49 retail

Arnot-Roberts began working with the Watson Ranch vineyard in 2002, just a year after the winery was founded. It was one of their earliest vineyard partnerships and remains a cornerstone of their Chardonnay program. The site’s limestone and marine-influenced soils aligned perfectly with Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts’ early vision of producing bright, mineral-driven wines that emphasized terroir over ripeness or oak.

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay from Watson Ranch Vineyard, which sits high above the Pacific at the southernmost edge of Napa Valley. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts in neutral oak, then aged on fine lees to build texture while preserving tension and clarity.

Tasting Notes: A taut and mineral-driven Chardonnay with notes of Meyer lemon, green pear, and crushed oyster shell. The palate is sleek and focused, layering citrus zest and saline minerality over a subtle, leesy richness. A long, mouthwatering finish speaks to the vineyard’s coastal influence and the precision of its farming.

Arnot-Roberts 'North Coast' Trousseau 2024

Sonoma & Lake County, California

PURCHASE ONLINE HERE

$44 retail

Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Roberts began experimenting with Trousseau in 2009, inspired by the light-bodied, high-acid reds of France’s Jura region. Seeking a counterpoint to the ripe, powerful styles dominating California at the time, they planted and sourced small parcels suited to this delicate grape. The result helped redefine modern California reds: fresh, transparent, and rooted in a sense of place rather than varietal power.

Varietal: 100% Trousseau sourced from a collection of cool, rocky vineyard sites across the North Coast, mostly in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, chosen for their elevation, poor soils, and coastal influence. The fruit is partially destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in open-top tanks, followed by aging in neutral oak to preserve aromatic purity.

Tasting Notes: Pale ruby and translucent, the wine opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red currant, and pink peppercorn. The palate is lithe and energetic, offering cranberry, orange peel, and savory herbs over fine, dusty tannins. A whisper of earth and minerality lingers on the finish, recalling Jura inspirations yet distinctly Californian in tone.

Arnot-Roberts California Red Blend 2024

Sonoma, California

PURCHASE ONLINE HERE

$75 retail

First introduced in 2018, the California Red Blend began as an exploration of how Arnot-Roberts’ diverse vineyard relationships could intersect in a single cuvée. Rather than showcase one site or grape, Duncan and Nathan sought to express a broader vision of California terroir, defined by balance, restraint, and the interplay of mountain fruit and coastal freshness.

Varietal: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 21% Merlot from a selection of sites spanning Sonoma, Mendocino, and the North Coast, chosen for their maritime influence and rocky, well-drained soils. Each component is fermented separately with native yeasts before blending, and the wine is aged in a combination of neutral French oak and concrete to preserve freshness and clarity over oak imprint.

Tasting Notes: Deep yet vibrant, showing layers of black cherry, wild plum, and crushed herbs alongside graphite and savory spice. The palate balances ripe dark fruit with lifted acidity and fine-grained tannins, finishing with energy and precision that belie its broad California origins.
