Church-Wide Events
The Right to Live - Join us this Saturday, June 4, as Scott Klusendorf, President of Life Training Institute, shares the case for the value of human life as you’ve never heard it before! The times are 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. As arguments rage around us over the right to abortion, we will learn how to communicate our life-honoring convictions in a compelling but respectful way. A Question & Answer period will follow. Teens 13+ are welcome. It’s a free event, but please let us know you’re coming by registering online.
This Sunday - First Responders Appreciation Day is for both Petra and community people who serve as fire fighters, EMTs, law enforcement officers, and others who respond to emergency situations. Join us as Founding Pastor Lester Zimmerman addresses the need for mental and emotional – as well as spiritual and physical – health for all those who carry an unusual burden of stress and trauma. His message is entitled “Responder Wellness.”

We encourage first responders to come in uniform and to drive to Petra in their emergency vehicles. Emergency equipment and vehicles will be parked in the East Parking Lot. Feel free to take a look! You’ll also be able to visit with several mounted police officers and their equine partners.

Petra’s kids are in for a treat with Lancaster’s K-9 Unit giving a short presentation during Children’s Church! A table in the Atrium after each service will offer kids fire prevention safety tips along with fun giveaways.

All first responders and their families are invited to a complimentary pizza lunch after the 11 a.m. service.

Songs – We Praise You, Yes And Amen, Glory Honor Power, How Great Thou Art

BELONG: The Journey will be offered only during the 11 a.m. service this summer through the month of August. The focus this Sunday will be on "Connect." Meet at 11:30 a.m. in the BELONG Room.

Sexual Integrity 101 - This 8-week video training is for anyone who wants to find freedom – or help others find freedom – from the effects of unwanted sexual behaviors and betrayal. It will show how shame and grace affect the healing process; give understanding about addiction and betrayal trauma; and get you started on the path to sexual health. Tuesdays, June 21-August 9, from 7-9 p.m. | For men and women ages 18+ | Cost: $20 | Register online by Monday, June 20.
Support
Petra Home School Support Group registration forms are now available for the 2022-23 school year. If you are interested, please contact Cynthia Blank, Janelle Reitz, or Candace Hahn by June 12. Thank you!
Senior Adults
Mini Golf Activity - If you're 62+ and would enjoy some fun and fellowship over a game of miniature golf, join us at Waters Edge Mini Golf in Bird-in-Hand on Saturday, June 18, at 5:30 p.m. The golf course is adjacent to Bird-in-Hand Restaurant and Motor Inn. Following the golf game we will enjoy ice cream at the snack area. There's no need to register; just come! Both the golf and ice cream are self-pay.
Kingdom Kids
Vacation Bible SchoolThis Wednesday, June 8, is the final day to sign up online for our “Monumental” VBS this summer – where kids will learn that God is with them everywhere, he’s in charge, and he’s stronger than anything! All kids from age 4 through Grade 4 will love this incredible week of music, games, snacks, and faith discoveries as they celebrate God’s greatness! VBS will run from Monday through Friday, June 13-17, from 6:30-8:45 p.m. Don't miss it!
VBS Volunteers - We still need 12 awesome volunteers ages 16+ to serve as Elementary Crew Guides! If you have your clearances or can quickly file for them (we can help you!) and would be willing to serve, please contact Pastor Andrea ASAP! We can also use your help next Sunday, June 12, to get the church decorated and transformed into a kids-only zone! Lunch is included. Contact Pastor Andrea if you can lend a hand.

Let’s Read! The Petra Student Library's Summer Reading Program will run this summer from this Sunday, June 5, through August 7. It's open to everyone from Pre-K through Grade 8. Sign up in the Student Library!

A Meal for Every Child - Here’s a simple opportunity to serve the community! Petra is excited to partner with CrossNet Ministries to ensure that every child in ELANCO has an opportunity to have lunch this summer. We need volunteers at Petra to hand out food boxes to the people who show up. The dates are Mondays and Thursdays from June 13 through August 25 (except for Tuesday and Thursday deliveries the weeks of June 20 and July 4) and the time is 10:45-11:45 a.m. We need one volunteer per time slot; feel free to bring along a family member or friend. Sign up here for as many slots as you want. Thank you!
Global Missions
Mission Prayer Focus - Ben and Kayte Musselman and their family serve as Petra long-term missionaries in Thailand with ZOE International, a ministry that combats human trafficking and serves people in need in Northern Thailand. Pray for good connections with family, friends, and supporters as they spend time on furlough in PA and prepare to return to Thailand later this summer.
