Church-Wide Events
This Sunday – Join us as Senior Pastor Lester Zimmerman shares seven steps to freedom from guilt and shame in a message called "The God of New Beginnings."

BELONG: The Journey - The focus will be on "The Holy Spirit." We'll look at how Jesus' disciples interacted with the Holy Spirit and how we can relate to the Spirit today. Join us at 9:30 or 11:30 a.m. in the Café.

Communion - We will be taking communion during the morning services this Sunday. Please pick up your prepackaged communion elements from the table as you enter the Sanctuary or Oasis, and keep your packaging until the end of the service. All Kingdom Kids volunteers serving outside the Sanctuary are welcome to take communion by going to the SLC Staff Work Room.
 
Sunday Morning Services - We will continue to stream both services through the Petra App, Facebook, YouTube, and our website at www.petra.church/live. To listen to the service over the phone, dial 717-481-4068.

Thanksgiving Day - The Church Office will be closed next Thursday for Thanksgiving. Please note that neither The WAKE nor Celebrate Recovery will be meeting next Thursday evening.
 
Decorating for Christmas - Can you lend a hand to decorate the church for Christmas this Monday, November 23, starting at 8 a.m.? You can stay for all or just part of the day. Lunch will be provided! We will need lots of volunteers – both men and women – of all ages and skill levels. If you can come, please contact Sharon Zimmerman at sharonz@petra.church or 717-286-3760. If you have friends who would like to help, bring them along!
 
The Petra Family Christmas Card Exchange begins with drop-offs on Sunday, November 29. For those who like to get a start on their cards, you may pick up a current listing of Petra members and regular attenders at the Resource Hub.
Child Dedication - TOMORROW (Friday) is the deadline to register for Child Dedication on Sunday, November 29. Register online or call the Church Office at 717-354-5394 during normal office hours (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).
EHOP - This Tuesday, as we approach Thanksgiving, Crystal Martin and team will lead us in a time of Devotional Worship before the Lord. These times of worship and prayer create an atmosphere that is perfect for Bible study, meditating on the Lord, and personal prayer. You are invited to take part in communion throughout the evening as you feel led. We will also be offering healing and prophetic ministry; simply sign in when you arrive. Childcare is provided through age 7. All are welcome!
Petra Prayer
Saturday Night Prayer - Join us each week from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Those who would like to join us here via Zoom still have that option. Let's spend time praying in a spirit of thankfulness for our Petra families and community, Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Widows’ Connect Luncheon - All widows are invited this Sunday to a time of encouragement, fellowship, and planning for 2021. It will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in the SLC Loft. Bring some ideas for events we can enjoy together next year! Please also bring your own food and drink. If you would like to share a food item, it will have to be individually wrapped. Don't miss the Men’s Breakfast at Shady Maple this Saturday. at 7 a.m.! It's for all guys age 13 and up. Steve Martin will be sharing his story.
Youth Bible Quizzing
Bible Quizzing is a fun program where our students (grade 7 - 20 years old) are given the opportunity to study Scripture in a friendly and competitive environment. We will meet for practice on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. from January 14 through March 18. Sunday afternoon practices and matches will begin on January 24 and continue through March 21. An end-of-the-season tournament will be held with other Ohio teams the weekend of March 26-28 in Kidron, OH! This year we will be studying portions of Job, Joshua, Nehemiah, Jonah, and Zechariah. Student Ministries
A.C.T.I.O.N. Christmas - Petra high school students will be traveling by bus to the Ephrata Walmart on December 9 to purchase Christmas gifts and supplies in support of children living at Christ's Home in Paradise. In the meantime, they are finding creative ways to raise money for this event, such as raking leaves, babysitting, sub sales, etc. If you would like to help financially, please designate your gift to A.C.T.I.O.N. Christmas by Sunday, December 6.
Kingdom Kids
Operation Christmas Child is off to a great start! On Sunday we dedicated 455 shoeboxes from Petra families. Our generous kids and families spent 1,560 in Kingdom Bucks and $1,132 in cash at the Treasure Chest to fill those boxes! A huge thank you to Jeff and Heidi Sauder and family for another amazing job of providing items to purchase! Since Monday, we’ve received another 1,749 shoeboxes at the Relay Center. Thanks to all who have helped!
Local Outreach
TOMORROW (Friday, November 20) is the 2020 Extraordinary Give Lancaster County's 24-hour online giving marathon! It will take place all day from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Several local ministries supported by Petra are among the 500+ ministries and nonprofit community organizations that have signed up to take part in this year's event. Every dollar donated online will be stretched by half a million dollars from various sponsors! Visit this website for more information.
 
Petra Food Bank - Volunteers are needed to serve clients at the Petra Food Bank on the second Wednesday and Thursday evenings of each month. Stockers are also needed some evenings. If you can lend a hand, please contact Mike Steffy at 717-468-6005 or foodbank@petra.church.
Global Missions
Mission Prayer Focus - Randy and Bonnie Martin are Petra missionaries serving with Preparing The Way Ministries in East Africa, where they focus on evangelism and community development outreach. Pray for wisdom as they continue to adapt ministry plans to meet open doors brought about by COVID. Pray for good connections with family, friends, and supporters as they spend the next month in PA before returning to Kenya.
 
European Dessert Night “Come and Go” Fundraiser - InSTEP Ministries International, led by Pastor Darryl and Joyce Henson, will offer a European Dessert Night on Saturday, December 5, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at New Holland Coffee Co. You will be able to come and go as you wish during the times listed. Enjoy a selection of European desserts along with live music, a video and slide show, mission updates, door prizes, and a silent auction of items from Poland. Tickets are required for entry and door prizes; they are available online for $6 apiece. The Hensons are passionate about mentoring and supporting pastors internationally; this fundraiser will help provide the means to do that. Donations will be received at the event.
