Life on Mission Series - Have you often felt inadequate in steering people toward Jesus? Pastor Brian Flewelling will give us a playbook that helps move people downfield and into the end zone with a message entitled "The Touchdown."

Pastor Appreciation - We have designated Sunday, October 13, as Pastor Appreciation Sunday! This is a special time set aside to honor our pastors and their spouses for their spiritual leadership, dedication, time, and commitment. We encourage you to bring notes, cards, and gift cards to the church that day. Tables will be set up in the Atrium and the Lobby on both October 13 and October 20 to receive your cards. Our pastors are: Lester and Erma Zimmerman, Ken Reinford, Brian and Kristina Flewelling, Brian and Tracy Coles, Darrel and Dorlee Martin, Sharon and Rod Zimmerman, Dwane and Janelle Reitz, and Titus and Barb Kauffman.

Join the Tech Team! If you have computer skills and would like to serve on the Tech Team once a month, contact Ron Esh at rone@petra.church or call the church office at 717-354-5394. Your job will be to display the worship lyrics, graphics, and videos for our Sunday morning services.

Water Baptism - If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, we encourage you to be baptized.Our next water baptism service is set for Sunday morning, November 17. If you're at least 10 years old and interested, please plan to attend a class either on November 3 at 9 a.m. or November 10 at 11 a.m. Register online or by using the bulletin flap.

ACTIVATE School of Worship - Worship-saturated prayer rises like a fragrance before God's throne to declare his glory and reign over all circumstances, governments, and relationships. Join us this Tuesday at 7 p.m. as Kristina Flewelling shares on “Worship in the Psalms and Throughout the Bible." She will discuss the origins of biblical worship and how this relates to our worship today, along with other topics. The DOVE/Hopewell Ministry Training on Friday night and Saturday, October 11-12, will focus on "Five-Fold Ministry and New Testament Leadership." Topics include Apostolic Growth, Prayer and Fasting, Leadership and Decision-Making, and Prophets and Prophetic Ministry. Partial scholarships for Petra attenders are available upon request. 2019 Petra Fall Fest
Petra Fall Fest - Start inviting your family, friends, and neighbors to the 2019 Petra Fall Fest on Saturday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.! We'll have carnival games, crafts, inflatables, bonfires, French fries, whoopee pies, and much more! Our entertainment this year will be provided by Christian illusionist Brett A. Myers. Everyone is invited, and everything is free except for the purchase of Chick-fil-A sandwiches at $3 apiece and food from the Dough and Co food truck. Please take a moment to sign up online or in the Atrium to help with your favorite Fall Fest food or activity. We'll need hundreds of volunteers! Pick up a poster, if you wish, to display in your neighborhood or at your business.

Senior Adults
Senior adults (62+) are invited to a tour of the Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz next Saturday, October 12. Meet at Petra at 10:30 a.m. to carpool OR meet at the Sanctuary at 11:30. Please dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. The cost is $11 per person. There’s no need to sign up; just come!

Walking Group for Women - We will continue to walk, talk, and laugh together as we meet on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m. through December 10. Our next walk is set for this Tuesday. You can park in the South Parking Lot and meet at the south entrance to the walking path. Feel free to bring your children.

The Wake Retreat

Tomorrow (Friday) is the final day to sign up for The Wake's Young Adult (post high school - age 28) Fall Retreat at Camp Yolijwa from October 18-20. Come for worship, teaching, prayer, and lots of fun as we build community and share life!

Global Missions
Mission Prayer Focus - Bruce and Joyce Heckman serve as Petra missionaries with Immerge in Lancaster, helping to train and equip mission workers preparing for service among unreached peoples around the world. They also assist with outreach to local immigrant populations. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance as they give leadership to the Immerge ministry. Pray also for provision—personally and for their ministry needs.
 
Enjoy some delicious "Yost" chicken barbecue at Ten Million for Christ’s Chicken BBQ and Flag Football Tournament this Saturday at the Petra athletic fields! The chicken barbecue will be available from 9:30 a.m. until sold out. You’ll be able to purchase chicken quarters alone for $4.50 apiece or as a meal with macaroni salad, applesauce, chips, dessert, and drink for $8 apiece. Then linger a bit to meet TMFC Director Jeremy Leaman and to watch teams compete in games of 6-on-6 flag football!
 
Fundraiser Meal - How about some baked potatoes with chili, salad, and dessert? Come on Sunday, October 13, at 12:30 p.m. for a fundraiser meal on behalf of Chris and April Zimmerman, Petra missionaries serving as part of the launch team for a new YWAM base in Lancaster County. They also give oversight to PA Mission Builders. Take-outs will be available at 10:30 a.m.
 
Can You Serve? A couple of mission teams will be going to Thailand in late October and early November, and are in need of drivers to and from the airport in Newark on the following dates:

  • October 30 (from about 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.)
  • November 12 (from about 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
