Homeless

The ones the world tries to forget

Lost on the streets,

In the rains, snow and cold,

Lonely poor souls

From heaven's fold

In a world of wealth it seems

There should be no homeless scenes.

As if lepers from the past

Way too often their fate is cast

Left to wander here then there

Problems increase, burdens to bear

Downtrodden souls die on the streets

As if dust at others feet

Once loving children with hopeful dream

Now they portray poor homeless scenes

While thousands look the other way

For downtrodden souls the angels pray

Hands touching hands one to the other

Truly we are sisters and brothers...

Bullet

Pets of the Homeless received a call from a homeless woman who lives in a tent in a river bottom about her 5 ½ year old male Pit Bull Terrier, Bullet. Bullet had been attacked by coyotes and one of his toes was hanging off. We approved an examination.
The veterinarian needed to amputate Bullet's toe. He also had a bite wound that needed to be cleaned up. Pets of the Homeless assisted with hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery to remove his toe, antibiotics and cleaning and bandaging the bite wound.
Bullet's guardian wrote a review about Pets of the Homeless on Facebook with a thank you: Feeding Pets of the Homeless is a wonderful organization. I'm homeless living in a tent in the river bottom with my two boys, Huckellberry and Bullet ages 3 and 6. If it weren't for my boys (and Pandoras Box, whom recently crossed over the Rainbow Bridge) I'd have never made it in the river bottom. Bullet was attacked by coyotes on the 5th of October and got one of his toes almost bit off completely. It was just barely hanging on by a piece of his skin and the bone was bit in to. I tried to tend to it myself for 24 hrs. But the next day it was squirting sprays of blood and had a very bad odor that I figured was infection in the bone. But I also had no money for a vet. I called Taking It To the Streets with Lori and Shira for advice or a reference or any kind of help at all. She referred me to Feeding Pets of the homeless. I made one phone call and my Bullet was in surgery that day having his toe amputated and a friend took me to get Bullet the next morning. Bullet will make a full recovery and be back to himself in no time. If it weren't for you Feeding the Pets of the Homeless, my Bullet might not be with me today. I can't thank you enough for your promptness and your caring for homeless pets. From the bottom of my Heart, and Bullets, I thank you and may GOD BLESS you all. He already BLESSED me....with you.
Pets of the Homeless gives hope...
Loneliness, regret and shame weigh down the hearts of people who are already so close to giving up on life entirely.  Their pets give comfort and love when there is nothing else.

Pets of the Homeless gives the homeless hope when their pet is hungry, ill or injured and when they do not have the resources.

It hurts to be homeless. Even more so during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
