Wildfire Emergency Resources

My office is currently tracking multiple wildfires affecting Eastland, Runnels, Coleman, Brown, Mills, and Sterling counties.

Please continue to evaluate evacuation orders that have affected the Eastland, Brown and Comanche counties.

If you are in need of emergency assistance, please call 9-1-1. For additional sheltering and safety information, please call 2-1-1. This is a dynamic situation, and I advise everyone to stay alert to local news and officials.

I am thankful for the commitment of our professional and volunteer firefighters, as well as the Texas Forest Service, who have responded so quickly and are continuing to fight these fires.

My thoughts and prayers are with those affected, as well as the first responders.
Introduced Legislation to Prevent Russia from Arming Iran

Yesterday, I introduced H.R. 7139, the Removing Arms from Terrorists through Sanctions Act to prevent our adversaries, like Russia, from transferring conventional weapons and missiles to Iran.

President Biden is placing his trust in malign actors. He entrusted the lives and safety of American citizens to terrorists in Afghanistan, has begged corrupt leaders in countries like Venezuela to fill our energy needs, and is now relying on Russia, while currently waging a devastating war on Ukraine, to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran on our behalf. A resurrected Iran Deal is a major threat to the U.S., Israel, and our Arab allies. Americans should never negotiate with terrorists.

My legislation builds on a Trump-era executive order that imposes sanctions on individuals involved in transferring weapons to Iran. It counters Iran’s ability to gain access to weapons that can be distributed to their proxies, such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Furthermore, it prevents rogue states, like Russia, from being able to collect revenue from these arms sales and expand their influence in the Middle East.
House Energy Freedom Act

This week, I joined Senator Ted Cruz in introducing the House version of the Energy Freedom Act. The legislation accelerates federal permitting for energy projects and pipelines, mandates new onshore and offshore oil and gas lease sales, approves pending LNG export licenses, and speeds up all forms of American energy development.

President Biden willingly gave away American energy independence with his assault on the oil and gas industry. Russia’s war on Ukraine, emboldened by their control over the global energy market, should be a wakeup call to us all.

I’m proud to work with Senator Cruz on this legislation to stop President Biden’s assault on our oil and gas industry. We are pushing to not only make America energy independent, but energy dominant.

Zelenskyy Addresses Congress

This week, I attended Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's address to Congress.

He spoke of bravery, courage, and fighting for freedom and human rights. All ideals we hold dear in America. He showed heart-wrenching footage of the devastation and carnage that Vladimir Putin has inflicted on Ukraine. Thousands of innocent victims have been killed, including women and children.

When I met with Zelenskyy several weeks ago in Ukraine, he said he would fight for his sovereign borders, that they mattered. Now, he is asking for President Biden to lead the world on the issue of freedom.

He’s not asking for U.S. troops; he’s asking for fighter jets like the Mig-29.

I join President Zelenskyy in calling on President Biden to stand up to Russian President Putin by imposing stronger sanctions, sending more security assistance & defense equipment, and of course, making America energy independent again so we can provide energy security to our partners and allies.
Standing Up For Life

Recently, President Biden's Department of Health and Human Services established a Task Force on "Reproductive Healthcare Access," a task force aimed at promoting abortion access. This is a direct rebuke to pro-life laws that states like Texas have thankfully passed.

Abortion is not health care. Women deserve better than abortion. They deserve the support they need to care for their babies and themselves.

I joined Congressman Buddy Carter and other Republicans in sending a letter to oppose the heinous task force.

Holding the Biden Administration Accountable

Yesterday, I received a copy of my bill, which was signed into law as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, from Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member John Katko.

The amendment forces the Biden Administration to publish the number of Known and Suspected Terrorists who are caught illegally crossing our southern border.

Americans deserve to feel safe and secure within our borders, and I will continue pushing for transparency and accountability. Passing this amendment is a strong step in the right direction.
Meeting with Community Advocates

This week I had a great meeting with the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers about predator control and other issues our producers are facing back home.

I am proud to stand with you. Thank you for all of the hard work you do for our economy and our agricultural community!
Sterling City Town Hall

On Monday, I hosted an engaging Town Hall in Sterling City. Thank you to everyone who came for discussion! We had great engagement, and I was honored to see so many familiar faces.
