Accountability for Air Force Leak of Personal Information
The United States Air Force took responsibility for leaking the confidential personnel records of Jennifer-Ruth Green, a Veteran and candidate running in Indiana’s 1st Congressional District.
The timing of the leak indicates that this illegal act was politically motivated with the intention of interfering in the upcoming November election.
This cannot go unpunished. I led the MACH 1 Caucus, a group of former military fighter pilots and current lawmakers, in sending a letter to the Inspector General of the Air Force demanding answers and accountability for the leak.
As former military pilots, leaking a veteran’s personal information for political purposes is especially egregious and should not be tolerated. This gross and illegal violation of Lt. Col. Green’s privacy must be dealt with immediately, and the individual(s) involved must be held accountable.
The letter also includes a series of questions as to who the leaker was, what steps are being taken to refer this individual for prosecution, and how the Air Force plans to prevent future leaks from occurring.
Americans deserve answers for this gross mishandling of information and politically-motivated attack.
