There will be an informal meet and greet at the Black Clover Pub , 1165 5 Ave, Prince George at around 7 pm with Phil in attendance.

We have opened Sunday, the Fly tying day to auditing so if you know someone who doesn’t want to participate in tying but still wants to watch, it’s $25.00 cash at the door. You may watch only and this does not get your name into the draws, or allows you materials or to buy materials or anything else. It is simply a learning by watching day.

There is still spots open so if you have anyone who wants to come yet, please have them get a hold of me to book in.

There will be some materials, indicators and Phil’s products for sale at the event as well. We will take cash, credit and debit at that time.
CWO Leech Dubbing
Leech Dubbing is finally available. This is not made in bulk and brought in to be packaged but rather it's made right here in Chetwynd in our store. The reason I called it Leech Dub is because of the extremely supple movement it has. This stuff is super wiggly and the slightest current or strip of the line sends it into a flurry of movement.

The materials were all very carefully chosen for specific qualities. The main material had to have a soft shine, be ultra slinky with maximum amount of movement in the water and it had to be the right color when wet. I find I really like a color of dubbing when it's dry but once it's wet, it isn't quite right or what I hoped it would look like. I've kept the sparkle to a minimum as well. Too much sparkle and it can scare a spooky fish and too little and it can be too dull to attract them.

This was a year long project to get right. From trying and testing multiple materials, working and re-working recipes, sending out samples for testing, tying bugs, it was quite an undertaking but it's finally done and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The fibres are slightly longer then the average dubbing making it very friendly to patterns that need more material then the average dubbing can supply.

I've had amazing feedback from tyers already saying that the dubbing is a top performer and will be a staple in their arsenal. There is 11 colors in the current lineup and more will be coming so keep watch for that.

Don't just use it for leech patterns however, Leech dub has it's uses on all wet flies, from trout to salmon, it can do it all.
Two great bugs from two amazing tyers featuring our Leech Dub. The olive soft hackle was dressed by Deb Paskall and the red was dressed by John Kent.
Sybai Products are really making waves.

I brought in the Sybai Ghost Hair, Volume Flash Hair and Saltwater Ghost Hair and once I started tying with it, I was super impressed. The materials have a lot movement, super shine and are just plain quite nice all around.

If you are tying warm water or streamer patterns, give the Sybai hairs a try and I think you'll like them too. Here is a couple videos for you to see about these hairs.
FNF Comes Home to Stay.

The products from FNF in the UK have seriously impressed me and all who tie with it. Innovative, colorful and just downright funky, FNF has really filled a need in the chenille world, including the competition scene patterns.

A few of the products that really got my creative juices going was the Creeper, Chewing Gum Worm and the Predator 9 Worm.

The Creeper contains Slush Jelly with 30mm rubber legs long mounted on a micro core for easy tying. This will prove an excellent material as it provides lots of colour and movement into any pattern.

Watch for more new products to come as well from FNF.

Did someone say 'Flat Wire"?

Yes, I did and it's on the way from the Czech Republic courtesy of Sybai.

Here's what Sybai has to say:
" We are pleased to exclusively introduce to you the “Flat Color Wire”. This exceptional product enables a whole new range of fly tying possibilities. The main advantage over a conventional round wire is the surface with very effective reflection and also a little more strength. When used in ringing on the body it cuts less into dubbing, which is enhancing the ribbing effect even more. Flat wire therefore combines the effect of the tinsel and the strength of the wire! "

This great wire could be a game changer for a lot of patterns and I'm really looking forward to getting here onto North American soil. Coming within 2 weeks so keep watch all, this one is going to be a killer.
