Here's some answers to questions past guests may have about the new owners' of the Phineas Swann:
Q: Why are you buying the Phineas Swann? A: Darren and I fell in love with the Phineas Swann the first time we came here. And when we learned Jay and John were selling the inn so they could retire to St. Albans and travel more, we just knew we were the right people to "adopt their baby."
Q: What immediate changes do you plan to make? A: Easy question. None. We fell in love with the Phineas Swann. We love its pet friendly suites. We love the decor and the emphasis on romance, comfort and luxury. We fell in low with how everyone at the Phineas wants guests to have an outstanding experience. So we don't want to change any of that.
Q: What about the staff? That's part of what makes the Phineas Swann experience so unique. A: We agree, and we're very excited that Emmy, Barb, Lori and Mike have agreed to stay on board and be part of our team! We should note we'll be the third set of owners Emmy has trained!
Q: Will there be any chances in pricing and policies now that you're taking over? A: Nope. Everything stays the same. If you have a reservation, we've already got it in the system and we're ready and excited anticipating your arrival.
Q: Will the Phineas Swann still be pet-friendly? Do you like dogs? A: Like? Try love. Dogs will always be welcome at the Phineas Swann. As in the past, you can stay in our Carriage House and River House suites with no additional charges or "pet fees." We'll continue the policy of keeping the Main House "pet-free" for our non pet-owners or allergic guests. As for us, we be bringing two important employees with us: Our two beagles. Marshall is our 'old man,' and he'll serve as our doorkeeper, letting out a solitary howl whenever a new guest comes in. Magnolia will be our Hospitality Director, and she's guaranteed to jump up and give you a kiss if you wish upon your arrival!
Q: What about other policies and traditions at the Phineas relating to LGBT, environmental and other issues? A: While Lynne and I may be straight, we're not narrow. Our dream is that the Phineas will continue to be the site of commitment ceremonies, weddings and events that spread joy and love.
On environmental issues, we want to be environmentally aware and respectful. And one of Lynne's first goals is to enhance the Inn's menu to stress more local sourcing of food and produce.
Q: What about you two? Where are you from? A: Lynne is from downstate New York and used to vacation in Vermont regularly as a child. Darren is from Tennessee (you'll figure that out the first time you hear his Southern accent) and fell in love with northern Vermont because it reminded him of the Great Smoky Mountains where he grew up. Lynne worked for Colgate-Palmolive for 20 years, and Darren is a former journalist and writer.
Q: What about those great breakfasts? A: The breakfasts you loved aren't going away. In fact, we're already looking at adding some items to the menu to make them even more amazing! And talking with local farmers and producers to bring you even fresher ingredients!
Q: Are you guys going to be involved in the happenings in Montgomery and Jay Peak? A: Absolutely, we always have been well-connected to the communities in which we've lived. We've been lucky to already meet Susan at Mountain Fiber Folks, Keith at Montgomery Adventures, Renee at the town office, John at Bernie's Restaurant and Nick & Scott at The Inn. We're looking forward to having a big reception for the town to meet everyone!

Phineas Swann Has New Owners
Two new faces, but same Phineas Swann for our guests
We're excited to announce that Lynne & Darren Drevik are the new owners of the Phineas Swann Bed & Breakfast Inn.
The couple purchased Vermont's most romantic and pet-friendly inn from John & Jay, who have operated the B&B since 2005. Located just eight miles from the Jay Peak Ski Resort and centrally located in the outdoor activity wonderland of Northern Vermont, the Phineas Swann boasts nine rooms and suites and a main house dating back to 1880.
Darren has a quick answer for those past guests wondering what major changes the couple plans to make at the Phineas Swann: "None. Like all other guests, Lynne and I fell in love with the Phineas Swann and its character -- the decor, the focus on creating unforgettable customer experiences, it's welcoming atmosphere to every type of guest and their dogs. If we love it, why would we change it?"
Lynne says the Inn's customers won't notice any shift in the Phineas Swann's focus on providing luxurious stays and scrumptious breakfasts. We're pleased that the staff - Emmy, Barb and Mike - have agreed to stay with us and continue the tradition of treating our guests like royalty. We can't wait to be the smiling faces that greet our guests on their arrival.
The Phineas Swann has been recognized by TripAdvisor, Bark Magazine, Boston Magazine, Montreal's La Presse, Yankee Magazine and New York magazine.
"We're very happy to be handing off the Inn to two people who will love and cherish it," says Jay. "The Phineas Swann has been a labor of love for John and me, and we didn't want to pass it on to just anyone. We know Darren and Lynne care for it as much as we have, and that makes a difficult parting a little easier. We couldn't have put it in better hands."
Lynne and Darren hope the inn's reputation as a romantic getaway will continue, and hope to continue hosting weddings, commitment ceremonies, anniversaries and getaways for couples and partners from across the country.

As for the Inn's pet-friendly reputation, expect that to continue. Darren & Lynne have two beagles, Marshall & Magnolia, who have promised to serve as friendly greeters for the B&B's four-legged guests.
Lynne is a native of Katonah, NY, and served as a logistics executive for Colgate-Palmolive Co. for 20 years. Darren is a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and is a writer and former newspaper executive. Both spent that past three years living in Manhattan and "are looking forward to returning to green mountains."
