Pet Bird Toxicities with Laura Stern, DVM
Birds are inquisitive by nature and often get into things they should not. In this practical look at pet bird toxicities, Dr. Stern will talk about how we can keep our birds safe. Additionally, she will discuss some of the common toxins reported to the ASPCA Poison Control Center, including house plants, foods, cannabis, and inhaled toxicants. Dr. Stern worked at the Center for 15 years and is currently its Associate Medical Director.

| | Annual Holiday Gift Program for Foster Birds Would you like to donate a special gift to a current Phoenix Landing foster bird? Just go to our holiday gifts webpage and click on the yellow purchase button to see each bird's special request. Or feel free to make your own personal choice, like an all-purpose perch or Pizza toy. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. | | How are your birds celebrating the holidays? We think they deserve some festive gifts too! We have created some special boxes in three different sizes (S,M,L) to make it easier for you to give your birds a gift box of toys. We are offering two different styles to help fit your parrot's preferences, a shredder box and a blockbuster box. Click here for more info. | | | | |
Our first OPEN HOUSE at The Landing!
Since we no longer have in-person classes, we decided to have monthly open houses where you can meet adoptable birds, learn more about what we do, help make some toys for our birds, or shop in our store. If you live in the Asheville area, join us between 1:00-4:00pm! The address is: 31 Landing Place, Alexander, NC 28701.
| | Become a member and support the many parrots of Phoenix Landing. We re-home hundreds of birds every year, host robust educational events, and support conservation. Each level has its own benefits. All levels include a 2026 calendar and tax deductible donation. Some levels also include our 2026 membership shirt. Calendar also available separately. | | | | Some of Our Adoptable Birds | | We have 28 macaws still waiting for our help! But here are some currently in foster, and in some cases, looking for their second Phoenix Landing home. We assume that almost every macaw, if well cared for, will need several homes across their long lives. Parrots rarely have "forever homes" as other animals like dogs and cats might have. Adoption is a positive way to make sure birds always have a good place to land over their hopeful long lives. Consider adoption first! To learn more about our adoption process, click here | | |
