Phoenix Landing Foundation, January 2026

Guest Speaker, January Zoom Event

January 10th, Saturday, 5:00pm ET (Note Unique Time)

Male Hypersexual Behavior and Female Ovarian Hyperactivity

with Dr. Rob Marshall and Tailai Obrien

Dr. Marshall and Tailai Obrien are joining us live again from Australia to talk about reproductive disorders that are common in companion birds across many parrot species, as well as chickens. These problems are frequently implicated as the cause of a wide range of complaints. Our guests will explain their experience with origins, diagnoses, treatments, consequences, and prevention strategies for these challenges.

Did you miss one of our past Zoom events? Most are uploaded on our website for you to listen to anytime. There is always something new to learn!

2026 Wellness Retreat, May 30-31, Asheville

Our 8th biennial Wellness Retreat! This is an in-person event in Asheville at the University of NC. Sure, we learn many important things to help our birds have better lives, but we also have a lot of fun! Our speakers and attendees come from all parts of the parrot community, so it is a fantastic opportunity to share our ideas, experiences, knowledge, and common appreciation for our treasured birds. With 4 simultaneous tracks, there is always something for everyone! Our goal is to get our audiences more involved and interactive this time too! Early bird registration until March 31st. 2026 Membership Program

Become a member and support the many parrots of Phoenix Landing. We re-home hundreds of birds every year, host robust educational events, and support conservation. Each level has its own benefits. All levels include a 2026 calendar and tax deductible donation. Some levels also include our 2026 membership shirt. Calendar also available separately.

Some of Our Adoptable Birds

Parrots rarely have "forever homes" as other animals like dogs and cats might have. Adoption is a positive way to make sure birds always have a good place to land over their hopefully long lives. Consider adoption first! To learn more about our adoption process, click here

Ways to Help and Wish Lists

  • Small monthly pledges greatly help to sustain us!
  • Become a 2026 Phoenix Landing member. Shopping discounts good for one year from the date joined.
  • Federal employees, including retirees, can contribute through the CFC. Log in at givecfc.org, our CFC Code is 31469. The CFC deadline has been extended to January 31st.
  • Check out our Wish Lists on Amazon or Chewy. We are always in need of in-shell walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, almonds, and hazelnuts; as well as shelled walnuts. Our other highest priorities as listed on our Amazon wishlist are paper bags, Zwilling storage containers, finger traps, sola sticks, coin wrappers, washcloths, Kamut, and quinoa.
  • We also have an Amazon Workshop Wishlist for maintenance, repair, and toy-making. We are constantly fixing cages and doing maintenance in the adoption centers.
  • Shop at our on-line store, HelpingParrots.com, another essential revenue source for us.
  • Want to prepare for your bird's future? Donate to our Endowment for Sustainability. Even $5 a month adds up!
  • Parrot taxi drivers always appreciated! We serve a large area on the east coast, and strive to make the best family matches for every bird. If you're interested in helping to transport a bird to their next home, sign up and join us!
  • Live in the Asheville area? On-site volunteers are always needed for cleaning cages and feeding birds, if you're interested in helping on a regular basis.
  • Monetary donations are always welcome. The parrots appreciate every dollar.
  • Have a car, truck, motorcycle, RV, or boat you would like to donate? Perhaps it is in need of repair? Now you can donate it through the non-profit, CARS, and have it benefit Phoenix Landing Foundation: https://careasy.org/nonprofit/phoenix-landing-foundation.

Non-monetary donations may be sent to:

Phoenix Landing 31 Landing Place, Alexander, NC 28701

Please drop us a note at contact@phoenixlanding.org if you purchase something for us, including if you'd like a thank you note, as vendors rarely tell us who generously purchases something for us. Thanks for helping parrots!
