Phoenix Landing Foundation, March 2026

Guest Speaker, March Zoom Event

March 28th, Saturday, 3:00pm ET

The Avian Physical Exam with

Anna Osofsky, DVM, ABVP (Avian)

What exactly does an avian veterinarian look for during a physical exam? Unlike other companion animals, birds require specialized handling and examination techniques to minimize stress while ensuring a comprehensive evaluation. Dr. Osofsky will give us a step-by-step description of what a physical examination involves, from head-to-toe. This information helps us better understand the important signs of health or illness. This will also help you to be a part of your parrot's well being by learning things you can observe at home in case your bird needs to see a veterinarian prior to their wellness visits.

Did you miss one of our past Zoom events? Most are uploaded on our website for you to listen to anytime. There is always something new to learn!

Found homeless not far from The Landing, she could not be left to the streets and the shelter was full. Named Hazel for her beautiful coat color, this smart and affectionate young lady is always up for an adventure. With a heart as big as hers, Hazel is sure to be a loyal and loving companion to anyone she meets. She's friendly, fun, and full of life, bringing joy and warmth wherever she goes. Don't worry, we are not rehoming dogs now, but Hazel deserves a good home too! Email melissa @phoenixlanding.org if you are interested.

Ways to Help and Wish Lists

  • Small monthly pledges greatly help to sustain us!
  • Become a 2026 Phoenix Landing member. Shopping discounts good for one year from the date joined.
  • Check out our Wish Lists on Amazon or Chewy. We always need in-shell walnuts, pecans, Brazil nuts, almonds, and hazelnuts; as well as shelled walnuts.
  • Our other highest priorities as listed on our Amazon wishlist are oat groats, paper bags, and foraging enrichment supplies (small paper bags, finger traps, vine balls, sola sticks, coin wrappers, paper cups, new egg cartons).
  • We also have an Amazon Workshop Wishlist for maintenance, repair, and toy-making. We are constantly fixing cages and doing maintenance.
  • We have a new WALMART wish list!
  • Shop at our on-line store, HelpingParrots.com, another essential revenue source
  • Help prepare for your bird's future, donate to our Endowment for Sustainability. Even $5 a month adds up!
  • "Taxi drivers" are always appreciated! We serve a large area on the east coast, and strive to make the best matches for every bird. If you would like to help transport a bird to their next home, sign up and join us.
  • Live in the Asheville area? On-site volunteers are always needed for cleaning cages and feeding birds, if you're interested in helping on a regular basis.
  • Monetary donations are always welcome. The parrots appreciate every dollar.
  • Have a car, truck, motorcycle, RV, or boat you would like to donate? Perhaps it is in need of repair? Now you can donate it through the non-profit, CARS, and have it benefit Phoenix Landing Foundation: https://careasy.org/nonprofit/phoenix-landing-foundation

Non-monetary donations may be sent to:

Phoenix Landing 31 Landing Place, Alexander, NC 28701

Please drop us a note at contact@phoenixlanding.org if you purchase something for us, including if you'd like a thank you note, as vendors rarely tell us who the donors are. Thanks for helping parrots!
