Lost Too Soon

The week of May 8th was a particularly difficult one for the Phoenix Police Department Family with the passing of two veteran officers.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sergeant Tim Wheeler #8727, who passed away from a medical event at home on May 9, 2023. Sergeant Wheeler joined the department in 2007 and was assigned to the Desert Horizon Precinct.

A day later, Officer Mark Aker #5884 passed away from a medical event on-duty on May 10, 2023. Officer Aker joined the department in 1994 and was assigned to the Maryvale Estrella Mountain Precinct.

Rest in peace Sergeant Wheeler and Officer Aker; you will be dearly missed.
